So that ends our formalities for this match. Hope you enjoyed this high voltage contest with the Kiwi side leveling the 5-match series 1-1 to only make it more exciting. Do join us for the 3rd ODI in Wellington on 25th February at 1400 local (0100 GMT). Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Ross Taylor is adjudged Man of the Match for setting up the game for New Zealand with a terrific century. He mixed caution with aggression to perfection and led the Kiwi side to a good score on a slowish track.
South Africa will be disappointed with their performance. Their top order once again failed to play an anchoring knock and there were no lower order heroics to save them today. AB de Villiers talked about identifying the chinks in the armour going into the Champions Trophy and the Kiwis have just exposed a few. Should be interesting to see how the visitors come back in the next game.
Overall a very good day for the hosts. They first put up a par score on the board thanks to Ross Taylor's century with vital contributions from Kane Williamson and Jimmy Neesham. With the ball, Trent Boult was the best bowler for them with 3/63. Santner too was vital with his 2/46. They have now leveled the series 1-1 with three games to go.
Defending a score of 289, the hosts struck early taking out Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis but the pair of Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy kept them in the game with a 57-run stand. Once Duminy departed it was only AB de Villiers who was fighting for the visitors as the required run-rate kept on climbing and wickets started to fall at the other end. The pair of Dwaine and Andile though brought them back with a stand of 61 runs in just 44 balls as NZ started to feel the heat, Boult and Southee though held their nerve to see their team through.
Phew! Two games in this series and we have witnessed two thrillers already. What a great leveler the game of cricket is. In the previous encounter, Andile Phehlukwayo was the one who did the hitting despite having AB de Villiers around but this time he could not take his team to victory, needing 15 runs in the last over. It was Dwaine Pretorius though who brought them back in the game, scoring a 27-ball fifty but alas it went in vain.

Tim Southee To Andile Phehlukwayo
What a game, Andile hits a FOUR but New Zealand take the game! Hurls it fuller on the stumps, Andile makes room and hammers it over the head of Tahir. The ball races down the ground for a boundary. Won't be enough for them, NEW ZEALAND WIN BY 6 RUNS!

Tim Southee To Andile Phehlukwayo
FOUR! A bit too late? Angles it full around off, Andile thinks about the reverse now and gets it down to third man for a boundary. 11 needed in 1 ball.

Tim Southee To Andile Phehlukwayo
Too full outside off, Andile can only dig it out towards extra cover where Kane Williamson fields the ball. Surely, the game is sealed for the hosts here.

Trent Boult To Dwaine Pretorius OUT!
OUT! Boult strikes when needed the most! That ends a tremendous knock of Pretorius under pressure. Trent steams in and bowls a full toss on leg stump. Pretorius backs away and comes down the track to hit it over covers but misses it completely as the ball thuds into the stumps. South Africa have lost a very untimely wicket. They need 15 runs to win off the last over with a sole wicket in hand.

Trent Boult To Andile Phehlukwayo
Full delivery attacking the stumps, Phehlukwayo has a swing across the line but drags it from the inner half through backward square leg. Sharp running between the wickets allows the batsmen to come back for a couple.
Maiden ODI fifty for Dwaine Pretorius!

Trent Boult To Dwaine Pretorius
Intelligent bowling by Boult. Pretorius makes room but Boult bowls a yorker length ball on leg stump. Pretorius squeezes it behind point for a single. It has been a terrific half century under pressure by Pretorius. What composure and clean hitting!

Trent Boult To Andile Phehlukwayo
That's a terrific start to the over from Boult. Gets it right in the blockhole as Andile makes room to open up spaces in the field. Has to contend with keeping that one out.
Trent Boult returns for his final over. Can he put in a fine over here? NZ need it badly.
