Right then, that's all we have from this series. We look forward to your company in future. Until next time, it's goodbye and cheers!!
Brendon McCullum bids adieu to international cricket! What an outstanding career he has had! 100-plus Tests without missing any, fastest 100, fastest 150 and the most number of sixes hit in Tests. He also holds the record for the fastest fifty in World Cup. And in T20Is, his favoured format - He is the leading run-scorer with most fours and sixes to his name. Truly remarkable! McCullum will be best remembered for his brand of aggressive batting which caused headaches to the bowlers around the world and on a lighter note, they must be taking a huge sigh of relief that he has retired now. Thank you, Baz!
JOE BURNS is adjudged the Man of the Match for scoring 170 and 65 in the match.
New Zealand will be disappointed with the fact that they failed to give a winning farewell to their beloved skipper. The inconsistency of their batting coupled with the inability of their new-ball bowlers to pick wickets cost them dearly. In Matt Henry, however, they seems to have found a handy bowling all-rounder.
The bowling of James Pattinson and Jackson Bird came as big positives for Australia. The pacers hunted down 9 wickets together in the second innings. Joe Burns made this Test his own by stroking a magnificent century and a fifty and considering he was the only weak link in the top order, Australia will be pleased with his progress. However, Australia's thin lower middle order continues to remain a worry.
In reply, Australia powered by centuries from Joe Burns and Steven Smith managed to get into the lead in excess of 100. Neil Wagner's 6-wicket haul was another talking point of that innings. Kane Williamson shone with the bat in the second innings but was unfortunate to miss out on a century. With the help of lower order, New Zealand set a target of 201 runs for the Aussies which was easily overhauled by the visitors.
It was a cracking Test match! Brendon McCullum made his final appearance in white clothes memorable by stroking the fastest Test hundred off just 54 balls. His knock helped New Zealand recover from a precarious situation and they managed to post a decent total in the first innings.
ALL OVER! AUSTRALIA WIN BY 7 WICKETS! They complete a commanding win to take the series 2-0! Courtesy this victory, they now become the number 1 Test team in the ICC Rankings. Under Steven Smith's captaincy, the young Aussie side continues to take good steps forward.
