That concludes the proceedings here at Headingley on a record-breaking day. On Monday, 22nd August, we will see the clash between Welsh Fire and Southern Brave. The Women's game will start at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) and the Men's game will begin at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT). Do join us in advance for the build-up. Cheers!
Laurie Evans, the stand-in captain of Manchester Originals, says that it was nice to get over the line. Adds that it was a great game of cricket and the pitch was really good. States that The Hundred is all about this. Mentions that it was key to get a good start and praises his team and calls it a world-class effort. Shares that looking at the wicket he thought that whatever they will score the opponents will get close but whenever you score 200-plus in T20s or The Hundred, you know that you are in the game. Tells that you need to peak at the right time. He says they had a lot of injuries coming into this tournament but Jos Buttler handled the situation well. Ends by praising Josh Little for his opening spell.
Philip Salt (55 off 25 balls) earns the Player of the Match award. The opener says that they were aware that it's a good batting strip and were aiming for a good start. Praises Laurie Evans for his knock. Talks about the match-ups with the bowlers and feels that it's all about how many balls you get on strike against them. Mentions that Laurie Evans was brilliant in his captaincy and adds that Manchester Originals are peaking at the right time.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Manchester Originals will be thrilled with the outcome! Their batting unit delivered a sizzling show in this must-win game. After posting the highest total in the history of The Hundred, the task for their bowlers became easy on a batting beauty. Still, the pressure was relentless with the way Adam Lyth started and Adam Hose took the fight forward. But Josh Little and Paul Walter delivered critical sets and discharged the charge from the Superchargers. Three wins in a row now for Manchester Originals and they now move to number three on the points table.
Good fight with the bat from Northern Superchargers but they eventually fell short of the target. The chase was always going to be tough for them but they didn't surrender. Adam Lyth and David Willey fought upfront and then the likes of Adam Hose and David Wiese also tried their best. The asking rate though was always alarmingly high and after one stage, it became very tough for them to deal with it.
