Right then, that's it from this exciting contest between Nepal and the West Indies. Nepal caused an upset and defeated the Windies by 19 runs. The next game of this bilateral series will be played on 29th Sept 2025 at 2.30 pm GMT. You can tune in an hour early for the pre-match buildup. Cheers for now.
Nepal captain Rohit Paudel expressed his delight at winning the Player of the Match award and beating a Test-playing nation for the first time. He felt that a score of 150-160 was par on the pitch, and his team matched West Indies' intensity 80-90 percent. Paudel praised the spinners for their brilliant performance and dedicated the award to those who lost their lives in recent tragic events. He thanked the fans and emphasized that this win is just the beginning. With a clear mindset to win the series, Paudel cautioned against complacency, urging his team to stay grounded and focus on the next challenge.
West Indies captain Akeal Hosein praised both teams for playing good cricket, but acknowledged that his team fell short. He felt the target was decent and the pitch was good, but the Windies gave away about 15 runs too many. Hosein highlighted the importance of setting a platform for his batters to build on, which would allow them to finish the game. He also commended Nepal's fielding, particularly the two crucial run-outs, and acknowledged Nepal's talent and skill.
Stay tuned for the presentation ...
Kushal Bhurtel of Nepal expressed his happiness after Nepal's historic win against West Indies, a team considered one of the toughest in T20 cricket. He enjoys contributing to the team with both bat and ball. Bhurtel acknowledged the critical situation in Nepal and the excitement this win would bring to fans in Nepal and Dubai. He credited the bowlers for their outstanding performance, noting that a total of 140-150 was expected to be sufficient against the less experienced West Indies side. This win marked Nepal's first victory against a Test nation, adding to Bhurtel's joy
Earlier, Nepal was restricted to 148/8 in 20 overs after losing the toss in the series opener against West Indies. Nepal struggled, losing two wickets in the Powerplay at 34/2. Rohit Paudel top-scored with 38 off 35 deliveries, while Kushal Malla, Gulshan Jha, and Dipendra Singh Airee also contributed. However, Jason Holder (4/20) and Navin Bidaisee (3/29) dismantled Nepal's batting order, holding them to a modest total at the halfway stage.
Nepal's bowling was precise, with 7 bowlers contributing to their historic win. Except for Sompal Kami, every bowler took wickets. Kushal Bhurtel excelled, taking 2/17 in 4 overs, while Nandan Yadav, Karan KC, Lalit Rajbanshi, Dipendra Singh Airee and Rohit Paudel each claimed a wicket, showcasing a well-rounded team effort.
West Indies struggled in their chase of Nepal's modest total, managing just 40 runs in the Powerplay while losing 2 wickets. No batter seemed comfortable, and Nepal's bowlers continued to take regular wickets. Navin Bidaisee top-scored for Windies with 22 runs, but even he struggled, playing at a strike rate below 100. Akeal Hosein, Ackeem Auguste, Keacy Carty, and Fabian Allen showed some resistance, but it wasn't enough for the Windies to overhaul the target. Yes, this was a relatively young squad from the Windies but still, they have no excuses for a defeat against an Associate nation. A jubilant moment for Nepal and their fans as they have got one over the mighty Windies.
History in the making as Nepal has won this contest by 19 runs. This happens to be Nepal's first victory against a full-member nation.

Dipendra Singh Airee To Fabian Allen OUT!
OUT! IN AIR... TAKEN! That is some exceptional catch from Bhurtel, and it couldn't have been a better ending for Nepal! Dipendra Singh Airee bowls it fuller, outside off. Fabian Allen presses to his front to lash it up and over the off side. The ball flies like an arrow to sail just over the wide long off fielder, but Kushal Bhurtel offers a fine leap, takes the catch, and in the mid air he loops it away as he loses his balance to land behind the boundary ropes. He steps over the boundary line, comes back into the field of play, and takes the catch back again to create history for his country! Nepal beats West Indies by 19 runs!

OUT! CAUGHT! Karan KC eliminates the dangerman! He bowls it on a good-length, outside off. Akeal Hosein covers the stump and tries to launch it across the line, but gets the connection on the upper half of the bat. The ball skies toward the long on region, where Gulshan Jha does well to keep his nerves still and scoops the catch safely.

On a length wide of off, Akeal Hosein steps across and slogs this towards the deep mid-wicket region. The ball was at a catchable height for Kushal Bhurte, but he fails to time his jump to perfection and the ball kisses his fingertips and goes over the fence for six.

NO BALL! Sompal Kami must be feeling furious with himself, as if he had checked his run-up, it would have been a catch-out! On a length, on leg and middle.
