That's it then from this game and it is Manchester Originals Women who have won the match. As usual, it is a double-header and the same two teams on the Men's side will now battle it out. That match will begin at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT) but you can catch the build-up for that game by switching tabs. Cheers!
Deandra Dottin wins the Player of the Match award for her all-round performance. She says the main thing was to get herself in while at the crease and that's what she did. Mentions the side always thought it was enough and she stuck to her plan throughout. Adds that she really likes challenges and is happy to contribute for her side.
The Presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Tammy Beaumont put the opposition into bat and after losing Lizelle Lee early on, Deandra Dottin and Emma Lamb stitched together a steady stand for Manchester Originals Women. Dottin kept on punishing the bowlers and Sophie Ecclestone played a blistering cameo that allowed the Originals to put a total in excess of 150 runs on the board. The bowling from Welsh Fire Women was here and there with Alex Hartley bowling a very economical spell. Being asked to get 157 runs to win, Welsh Fire Women needed a big stand at the top which they did get but they lost the plot as once again Deandra Dottin proved to be a thorn in their side, with the ball this time. A hard fought win then for Manchester Originals Women.
Welsh Fire Women seemed to be well in control of the run-chase for quite a long time but lost their way in the latter stages and they have been beaten. Hayley Matthews was on fire right from the start as she got 69 runs off just 41 balls. Tammy Beaumont played second fiddle but probably it was Beaumont who just couldn't get going once Matthews got out that lost them the game. The batters who came in after Matthews didn't do much either but Beaumont was set and couldn't find the fence. It was a game that Fire will feel they let get away from them.
Manchester Originals Women will be ecstatic with this win but Deandra Dottin deserves most of the applause for it. Dottin was brilliant with the bat and then it was her double-strike that completely turned the game on its head. The Originals had then runs on the board but failed to pick up early wickets. Their bowlers however did manage to keep the scoring rate in check and once Sophie Ecclestone dismissed Matthews, they did well to tighten the screws and notch up the win.
What an excellent contest we have witnessed here but it is Manchester Originals Women who have held their nerves and have gone on to win a thriller.
