Right then! That is it from the coverage of this game. The action from Pakistan Super League continues and it will be Quetta Gladiators taking on Lahore Qalandars on 7th February 2022. This clash begins at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Do join us for the same and make sure you tune in early for the buildup. Cheers!
Shadab Khan, the skipper of Islamabad United and also the Player of the Match says that in the last 2 years, he has had a lot of struggles with injuries and stuff like that but it feels really good to do well in all the departments. Tells that as a captain, he needs to lead from the front and is glad that he is able to do that. Adds that they have world-class bowlers and their plan was to deliver under pressure. Ends by saying that he does not care about personal milestones as long as the team is doing well as that matters the most.
Babar Azam, the skipper of Karachi Kings says that it is unfortunate that they lost all their games but they need to learn from these mistakes. He mentions that they are still hopeful and hopefully they can play better in Lahore. He says that they gave away some extra runs with the ball and the batters too could not get partnerships going.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Paul Stirling is down for the chat. He says that he has enjoyed batting in Karachi. Mentions that it was the best performance from the side. Tells that they spoke about a complete game two nights ago and they did it. On asked about Alex Hales, he says that it is fun to watch him take on the bowlers from the other end.
Islamabad United bowlers came out with a plan and executed it with perfection bowling cutters and making it difficult for Karachi King's batters to get going. Some dismal running between the wickets also helped their cause as Sharjeel Khan and Sahibzada Farhan were sent back in a bid to take a quick single. Mohammad Wasim got the big wicket of Babar Azam and then it was the skipper’s turn to rule the show. Shadab Khan picked up four wickets and just killed the chase in his four overs. Overall, it has been a dominating performance and credit should be given to their batters to get to a good total on this tricky pitch. It was the last game for Paul Stirling before he leaves for national duties and was once again the top performer for his team with the bat today.
It was quite clear in the first half of this game that the pitch was tricky and it would not be an easy chase for Kings. They needed a good start but unfortunately, they got off to a disastrous one as Sharjeel Khan departed early courtesy of a run-out. Kings never got going after that as they struggled against a disciplined bowling attack on a difficult pitch. Imad Wasim was promoted up the order but he could make no difference. Nabi swung his bat at the end and hit some lusty blows but the game was almost done and dusted till then. Kings need to sort their batting issues out otherwise it is looking quite bleak for them from hereon.
Another game and another dismal batting performance by Karachi Kings. This has been a story throughout this season and they have lost all their five games now. Islamabad United have completely outclassed their opponents. They will be very happy with their performance and it has been a near-perfect game for Shadab Khan’s boys.
