Apart from the skipper, no one turned up for the chase. Galle Gladiators were off to a superb start and it looked like a comfortable chase until the spinners were introduced. Kusal Mendis was playing with ease but had to change his game as wickets started to fall at the other end. He got to his fifty and fell, his wicket and of Wasim was the final nail to the coffin. This loss just shows Galle Gladiators have to bring one more batter into the lineup as they rely too much on a couple of players.
What a start to the Lanka Premier League. A statement win from the Kings. They have shown that if their batting doesn't perform, they will come up with an extraordinary bowling performance. The Kings did end up with a below par score but the bowlers turned up dearly to churn out a win from nowhere. They kept it simple from the start. Did not allow pressure to get the better of them and stayed in the game till the end. We thought it would be an easy chase for Galle Gladiators but the spinners of Jaffna Kings turned up to the occasion and it was in the middle phase where the Kings won the match.
