Right then! That is it from the coverage of this game. The action from Pakistan Super League continues and it will be Peshawar Zalmi taking on Lahore Qalandars on 2nd February 2022. This clash begins at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Do join us for the same and make sure you tune in early for the buildup. Cheers!
Mohammad Rizwan, the skipper of Multan Sultans, says that they have been working hard and their team has been gelling well which is important, and credits the coach and the staff for the same. On being asked about his field placements, he says that field placements are something that helps them win matches and he knew the taller fielder had to be in the deep, also says that if the team is together everything goes well.
Shadab Khan, the skipper of Islamabad United says that they did not bowl well at the death. He adds that they have depth in their batting and they go hard right from the start and they like to play that way. He says that he is happy with his knock but individual milestones does not matter and would have been happier to win the game.
Tim David is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his superb knock of 71 from 29 balls. He says that it was pretty nice to take the game on and help his side to put on a great total, and he feels good to defend the target for the second time. Mentions that the boys have been playing really well at the top order and he has not got an opportunity to bat but, today he got to bat and he is happy he did well. Adds that four wins in four matches is always good and he hopes they continue the same way.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Multan Sultans bowlers had a big total in their kitty to defend and so despite leaking runs they were always presented with opportunities to take wickets as batters continued to take risk. Khushdil Shah though was the stand-out bowler and picked four wickets to break the backbone of Islamabad United's batting line-up. In the end, the heroics with the bat meant that they had enough in their kitty and have managed to stay unbeaten this season with another win. The credit should be given to the partnership between Tim David and Rilee Rossouw that took them well past 200 and at the end that proved too much for Islamabad United.
Islamabad United played an enterprising brand of cricket in the last game and they had the license today to do the same. They came out all guns blazing but despite scoring runs at a brisk rate they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shadab Khan, the skipper though had no plans to let the game go away easily and played a fantastic knock scoring 91 runs from just 42 balls and that kept Islamabad United in the chase right till the end. However, with the target so big, he needed some support from the other end and sadly he did not get that tonight.
Multan Sultans continue to march on! They have registered their fourth victory on the trot and have defended the target yet again. They were tested right till the end but they have managed to keep their head high at the end. Islamabad United will be pleased by the fight they showed but the last few overs with the ball have come back to haunt them.
