Right then. That’s it from the coverage of this game. But the PSL continues in a short while as Peshawar Zalmi take on Multan Sultans at 2000 IST (1430 GMT). Do join us then. Cheers!
Shaheen Afridi, the victorious skipper, says, he trusts Zaman Khan a lot and he has seen him grow in the nets. Says Zaman deserves all the credit for the final over. Adds that he mentioned it earlier that 170-180 would be a really good score on the board with the kind of bowers in the side. Ends by saying, he is enjoying his captaincy.
Shadab Khan, the Islamabad United skipper is in for a chat.. He says, he should’ve ended the game with Munro. Adds he is unhappy with the shot he played and maybe that costed them the game. Ends by saying they will try to work on their mistakes in the next game.
Zaman Khan wins the Man of the Match award for his exceptional spell with the ball. He says, Shaheen Afridi asked him enjoy the final over and that’s what he did. Luckily it worked for him.
Stay tuned for presentation...
In the bowling, Shaheen Afridi was excellent in the Powerplay. He got Hales early and could have had Munro too had he taken a review. However, in the middle overs, the game started slipping away as the 5th bowler went for aplenty. At that time it seemed the review not taken will cost heavily but the likes of Rauf, Afridi, Zaman Khan and Rashid Khan did superly towards the end have managed to pull out a win from an unlikely situation.
Islamabad United did not begin all that well in the chase as they lost Hales and Stirling in the Powerplay. Shadab and Munro then got things back on track. The two smashed their way to half tons and added 100. When they were batting, it seemed an easy win for Islamabad. Once Shadab fell though, Lahore not only dried the boundaries up but also got Munro. However, when Asif Ali and Azam Khan were batting, the game was still in the favor of the batting side. They needed 21 from 2 overs and then 12 from the last over. It was Zaman Khan who kept his nerve, against two power-hitters and helped his side win by 8 runs.
What a win for Lahore Qalandars! A terrific batting line-up against a wonderful bowling attack and it is the latter which has come out on top and it is that department which has held its nerve in the end and helped them come over the line. It was a game between the number 2 side and the number 3 side and it has been an absolute cracker of one.
