And that's a wrap! England have emerged victorious, clinching the series 2-0. Jacob Bethell is now making his way to collect the trophy, joining his teammates for a well-deserved photo opportunity. That's all from us for this series. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and analysis. For more cricketing action from around the world, feel free to switch tabs and stay tuned. Thank you for watching, and cheers!
Jacob Bethell proudly accepts the trophy after the post-match interview, passing it on to his teammates. They gather in front of the 'winners' board, beaming with joy as they snap pictures with the trophy in hand. The elation on the faces of the English players and coaching staff is unmistakable, embodying the triumph of their relentless effort and unwavering spirit. This is not just a celebration, it’s a powerful testament to their hard work and commitment that led them to this incredible victory!
Jacob Bethell, skipper of England, says that he is feeling really happy to win his first series. Also says that the conditions were a bit different today, but they adjusted it well. Also says that they are carrying a good momentum after the South Africa series and they will look forward to utilizing it in the next one.
Phil Salt wins the Player of the Series. He says that they have enjoyed the tour and they are also very excited as lots of cricket are waiting for them. Ends up saying that these wins are a big leap for them but they are not going to get carried. They will keep their composure for the upcoming matches.
Adil Rashid wins the Player of the Match. He says that the track was responding well to his deliveries. He continues that he is pleased with his bowling unit. Also says that everyone in the camp is looking forward to the T20 World Cup and everyone is exiting for it. Ends up saying that he tries to enjoy this moment as these are very precious for him.
The skipper of Ireland, Paul Stirling, says that they have got some positives from the game. He also praises the groundsmen for working hard. He reckons that they were 15 runs short today. Adds that they will try to make improvements as they will be facing Bangladesh in the upcoming fixtures. Ends up saying that he and his team feel very lucky to have the crowd by their side.
Time for post-match presentation...
Curtis Campher is up for a chat. He says that they would like to get a win but they will learn from these mistakes and grow together as a team. Also he gives his insight about the extraordinary catch he took. He says that it's one of those where the ball gets stuck in the hand. Ends up saying that he hopes to learn more and contribute to his team.
Earlier in the game, Ireland posted 154/8, thanks to Gareth Delany's explosive 48 off 29 balls. He gave Ireland a fighting chance with a late surge, smashing some big shots towards the end. Ireland lost wickets at regular intervals, with Adil Rashid striking twicey. Despite a mini-partnership between Harry Tector and Benjamin Calitz, Ireland struggled to build momentum, but Delany's cameo took them past 150.
Ireland’s bowlers started with promise, delivering a couple of impactful spells but could not sustain the momentum across the innings. Barry McCarthy, Craig Young, Ben White, and Curtis Campher each earned a wicket, yet the pressure could not be maintained to derail the chase. England eventually sealed a 2-0 series victory!
Cox proceeded to a valuable half-century, guiding the team to a comfortable finish despite a few hiccups along the way. He departed for 55, and Banton continued his attacking approach, contributingwit his quickfire 37. The stand effectively shifted control in England’s favor, erasing the initial nerves and setting up a straightforward win.
With this, England have clinched the series by 2-0! They began with a tentative start, losing Buttler and Bethell early as Ireland looked to seize the initiative. However, Salt and Jordan Cox steadied the innings, navigating the early pressure and laying a solid platform for a defendable total. Salt fell in the 10th over for 29, but Cox continued with Tom Banton and anchored the chase aggressively.
