Right then, that is it from this game. Australia Women have registered a comprehensive win here and take a 2-1 lead in the series. They will now want to wrap up the series in the next game while India Women will hope to level the series. The fourth T20I of the series will be played on Saturday, 18th December and that game will begin at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT). Do join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!
Alyssa Healy, the skipper of Australia Women, says that it was a great win and everyone contributed well. Adds that she is enjoying the challenge of leadership. Mentions that Brown did well after the tough start and credits Ellyse Perry and Grace Harris for the way they batted. Ends by saying that she is proud of her team.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper of India Women, says that the bowlers did very well and credits Anjali Sarvani and Devika Vaidya for their performance. Adds that they thought they can chase this total, but in the middle, they played a few too many dot balls which proved to be the difference. Mentions that the plan was for her or Shafali Verma to stay there till the end, but the run rate crept up and they couldn't execute the plan. Ends by saying they will need to improve and come back stronger in the next game.
Ellyse Perry is the Player of the Match for her match-winning knock of 75 runs from 47 balls. She says that they used only a few batters in the first two games and it was nice to get a hit in this game. Adds that Grace Harris was exceptional with her knock. Feels that they battled hard at the right moments in the game and it was a complete team effort. Shares it she enjoys any opportunity to play for Australia and it was good to get a comprehensive win.
Presentation Time...
Darcie Brown is in for a flash interview. She says that her start with the ball wasn't ideal but she is glad that they managed to get the win. Adds that they were confident of defending this total with their bowling attack. Feels that it was all about backing their strengths. Shares that the new ball wasn't slippery at all and it was her wrist position that was off. Ends by saying that she enjoyed bowling here with the amount of bounce and swing on offer.
Earlier in the innings, after being put to bat first Australia Women posted a fighting total on the board thanks to a brilliant innings from Ellyse Perry and a couple of cameos from Beth Mooney and Grace Harris. India Women, at one point looked good to chase this, but Australia Women bowlers showed their quality and defended this brilliantly to register a good win for them.
Australia Women have put on a clinical bowling performance here and they have shown why they have been so consistent in this format. Darcie Brown started the first over by bowling a lot of wides, but she came back in her second over to get rid of Smriti Mandhana. They did struggle to break the stand between Harmanpreet Kaur and Shafali Verma and also gave both of them a couple lives as well, but once they did, they did not India Women come back in the game. Ashleigh Gardner and Darcie Brown picked up a couple each while Nicola Carey and Megan Schutt contributed with one wicket each. They showed a lot of character in this game and now will go to the next game with a 2-1 lead.
India Women did not start the chase that well as they lost Smriti Mandhana quite early. It was Harmanpreet Kaur and Shafali Verma who recovered after that and stitched up a good partnership of 73 runs. When these two were batting, it looked like they will chase this down easily. However, Shafali Verma got to her fifty and then got out which started a collapse as they lost three wickets in the space of nine balls. Harmanpreet Kaur remained on the other end, but she too fell after playing a few more lusty blows. Deepti Sharma played a cameo, but in the end the total proved to be too big and they fell short by 21 runs. India Women will feel that they let this one slip away from them and now they have to win the next game to stay alive in the series.
Australia Women take a 2-1 lead in the series! They were brilliant all around and in the end it was a pretty convinvning win for them. India Women, will need to comeback stronger in the next game.
