SHIKHAR DHAWAN is the Man of the Match. He says that he enjoyed batting over here and is happy he got his first T20I fifty. Adds that he likes to play his natural game and got a lot of support from the staff and he enjoys the confidence they have in him. Further says he enjoyed his flow and thought he should keep on going and it worked.
MS DHONI says it was a high-scoring wicket. Adds that it was important to give everyone exposure so that in big tournaments they are well prepared. Further adds that it was nice to see Pandya expressing himself. Thinks they have some really good fielders because a couple of run outs or catches change the complexion of the game. Ends by saying that being a bit unorthodox in keeping does help but it all goes down to the bowlers who beat the batsman in the first place.
DINESH CHANDIMAL says the pitch looked good but credit goes to their (Indian) batters. Thinks that as a bowling unit they tried hard but ended up giving a lot of runs. Adds that on this type of track they needed variations and their bowlers need to learn that quickly. Says that Chameera has been exceptional and is a real prospect for them. Sri Lanka started their chase on the back foot as they lost their top 3 batsmen with just 16 runs on the board. The Lankan middle order provided some resistance but the colossal total put up in front of them never really looked achievable. Ashwin picked up a 3-fer whereas Nehra,Jadeja and Bumrah chipped in with a couple of wickets each. A top notch performance from the Indians to get back on track in the series. It were the Indian openers that got their team to a flying start putting in to bat first. The middle order chipped in with handy knocks to take India close to 200. The Sri Lankan bowlers weren't up to the mark but Thisara Perera stood out with only the 4th hattrick in T20Is. Chameera was good initially but went for a lot of runs towards the end as the Indians piled up 65 runs in the final five overs.
That's a massive win for India and they are back to level the series 1-1 making the final T20I, a decider. A thumping victory for the hosts after a slight stutter in the previous game. The Indians looked a dangerous unit and performed in all the 3 departments. Sri Lanka on the other hand have a lot to discuss and resolve their issues that let them down today.
