That's it from this game. But don't go away as the next match of the evening involving Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat is already underway. Switch tabs and do join us for all the action. Cheers!
Moises Henriques is the Man of the Match. Says that he had wickets falling around him, so he had to build partnerships. Tells that he tried to capitalize on the bad balls. Adds that they tried to use the Power Surge to get some momentum heading into the backend and appreciates the contribution of Tom Curran with the bat. States that he loves to train and get better, and always tries to work on new things. Mentions that he takes a lot of enjoyment out of it. Feels that momentum is a word used in place of confidence and his attempt has always been to just keep all the players engaged.
Sydney Sixers did not have a great start with the bat, but they were on top in the second innings. They did not let the batters settle down and got rid of the struggling openers early in the innings. Their bowlers stayed disciplined and picked up regular wickets in the middle. Peter Handscomb hurt them and threatened to take the game away but Sydney Sixers bowled beautifully, especially at the death. Chris Jordan, in particular, was amazing and gave only 3 runs in the all-important 19th over. So, two games and two very different wins for the defending champions.
Hobart Hurricanes would have thought it was an easy task for them, but the Sydney Sixers bowlers made them struggle. The openers could not find their rhythm. Matthew Wade and D'Arcy Short just managed to put 17 runs in the first four overs. Caleb Jewell and Peter Handscomb tried to get things under control before Jewell lost his wicket around the halfway mark of the second innings. The Hurricanes kept losing wickets in the middle overs and there was no support for Peter Handscomb at the other end. Handscomb played beautifully but could not get the power-hitting going that was needed in the end overs. The Hurricanes lost their first game of the season but have managed to clinch a point at least.
What an excellent match! It was full of twists and turns. But it was Sydney Sixers who emerged victorious in the end. They have won two in two now and grabbed 3 points from this contest. Hobart Hurricanes start their campaign on a losing note but have managed to steal the Bash Boost point.
