So that is it from this game. Hobart Hurricanes are out of BBL 09 and Sydney Thunder will now face Adelaide Strikers for the Knockout. But before that Melbourne Stars welcome Sydney Sixers for the Qualifier. Expect it to be a cracker of a contest. Join us for that game on Friday, 31st January. The match will begin at 1915 local (0815 GMT). Join us for that one. Till then, take care!
For his match-winning bowling performance on a very difficult bowling pitch, Jonathan Cook has been awarded the Man of the Match. Cook says that he is really happy with his performance, especially as it has come at the crucial stage of the tournament. Tells Hales and Usman gave them a very good start and says he is hopeful that he can continue. Feels that Adelaide is a daunting place to go as it is a fortress for the Strikers and hopes to repeat what they did on New Years Eve.
A brilliant bowling performance from the Sydney Thunder. They were shining the brightest throughout the day and backed up a superb batting with the ball as well. Everyone bowled well barring Nair who was expensive. The star with the ball was Jonathan Cook who was just unplayable and scalped 4 wickets and gave away just 21. Morris was exceptional as well and scalped three. Overall it was a thorough bowling performance.
Chasing a massive score of 198, the wheels of Hurricanes' wheels started to come off as soon as they lost Wade and D'Arcy Short just outside the Powerplay. Bailey's swansong was not a successful one as even he could not do much. The run rate kept on creeping up and Hobart Hurricanes kept losing wickets and all-in-all it was a miserable day in the office for them.
An easy win for the Sydney Thunder and they breeze into the Knockouts with a comprehensive 57-run win and book their flight to Adelaide as the Strikers await them in the Knockout! George Bailey's awesome career comes to an end and now he takes over the mantle as Australia's selector. Unfortunately he cannot bow out with a trophy but he has been a great servant of the game and we all will miss his smile and unorthodox style of play.

Appeal for LBW but this is probably going down the leg side. A floated ball on the pads, Ellis looks to flick but misses.
Jonathan Cook is on a hat-trick and Hurricanes' best player of the evening is on now, Nathan Ellis. The problem is he is a bowler and he was tremendous with the ball.
