Right then. The first game goes in the favour of the England Women, they never looked as if they would let it slip away. The Indian Women team need to have a talk and make a game plan to go about with the series. This was a complete mismatch. The second ODI will be played on Wednesday. 30th June at 1400 local (1300 GMT) in Taunton. But as usual, the build-up will begin much earlier. Do join us then, cheers and take care.
Tammy Beaumont, the PLAYER OF THE MATCH, says that it was a pretty good wicket and the bowlers did a very good job of restricting India. Tells that they did not want to play across the line and is pleased with her performance. Goes onto say that it is great to be batting with Sciver and she scores pretty quickly and they gel well together. Goes onto say that her role is to bat as long as possible and they have a lot of talent in their team as well as competition.
Heather Knight, the England Women's skipper, says that Brunt and Shrubsole set the tone with the ball and it was a magnificent effort to finish the game clinically. Adds that they had a plan against the Indian openers and the pitch was helpful at the start. Goes onto say the bowlers were very effective and they utilized the conditions really well. States that Shafali is an exciting player and it is set up to be a lovely series. Goes onto say that it was a good cricketing wicket. Tells that Beaumont is in amazing form and it was good to see her perform. Tells that the seamers did a brilliant job for them and then Sophie Ecclestone continued her form.
Mithali Raj, the Indian Women's skipper, says that they were poor with the bat and they needed their bowlers to be more consistent with their lengths. Goes onto say that they need to address their dot ball percentage with the bat. Tells that England have an experienced bowling attack and they will come prepared next game. States that their seamers could have been effective on this pitch but it was not to be and they will look at their composition.
India Women could not do much with the bat except a captain's innings from Mithali Raj, to score 72 runs and take the team total to 201 runs. England's bowling was brilliant and they just did not let India get away. In the end, it was a complete performance from England and they have begun perfectly.
A very disappointing performance from the India Women. They never got in the game after the first wicket. Goswami found the wicket in the initial stage of the innings, when everyone thought the side could impress with the ball. But after that, it was very difficult for them to find a breakthrough. Until Ekta Bisht got the better of the English skipper. Later, the bowlers probed good line and lengths but were unable to break the partnership between Beaumont and Sciver. A very disappointing performance with the ball.
England Women never looked in trouble while chasing the target of 202. After losing an early wicket of Winfield, Beaumont and Knight stitched a really good partnership which made sure the team is on top. Sooner, they lost Knight. But then Sciver came into the action and went all gun-blazing and reached her half-century mark within no time. They both played a fine, fine knock and helped England Women reach the target with 91 balls and 8 wickets to spare.
A comprehensive win for England Women! They win by 8 wickets and they have been absolutely dominant. It was a complete mismatch and India Women need to come back stronger if they want to compete against this team in home conditions. Overall, it was a magnificent performance from England.
