Right then, that is it from this game and also from the Dhaka leg of the competition for the time being. The action will now move to Chattogram for the next leg and will resume on Friday the 13th of January with another doubleheader. In the first game, Chattogram Challengers will take on Fortune Barishal and will begin at 1.30 pm IST (8 am GMT). This will be followed by a contest between Khulna Tigers and Rangpur Riders at 6.30 pm IST (1 pm GMT). You can join us for the early build-up for both of those games. Until then, take care and goodbye!
The captain of Sylhet Strikers, Mashrafe Mortaza collects the Player of the Match award and says that he (Towhid Hridoy) is a fantastic player and he has realized that he is capable to bat well. Adds that Najmul Hossain Shanto has been amazing as well. Says that he (Towhid Hridoy) is in the hospital now but it doesn't look like a major injury. Says that the wicket was really good and they enjoy playing good shots on this pitch. Mentions that as a bowling unit, they plan well according to the target set by them. Ends by saying that it feels good to win the game in the end.
Towhid Hridoy (84 off 46 balls) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his sensational innings but unfortunately, he won't be able to collect his prize as he hurt himself earlier on. Hridoy has gone to the hospital for some scans and skipper Mashrafe Mortaza will accept the prize on his behalf.
Nasir Hossain, the skipper of Dhaka Dominators comes down for a quick chat. Hossain says that it was a big total on the board and their bowlers did not perform well. Ends by saying that they will need to improve their bowling and batting in the next game. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Nasir Hossain opted to bowl first as in general, chasing is a bit easy given all the dew around. However, Dhaka Dominators were under-par with the ball as Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy took the bowlers to the cleaners. Hridoy in particular played a sumptuous knock that helped his side reach a big total. Taskin Ahmed picked up two wickets and Al-Amin Hossain ended up with three but every bowler received a tap. While chasing 202 for the win, the top order of Dhaka Dominators faltered and even after a bit of rejuvenation from the pair of Nasir Hossain and Mohammad Mithun it was a bridge too far for them. Sylhet Strikers were clinical in the field and picked up timely wickets to seal an easy win.
Dhaka Dominators were under the pump right from the off and when Ahmed Shehzad got out for a duck, things were made pretty difficult. Dilshan Munaweera and Soumya Sarkar fell soon after but then came the repair work. Skipper Nasir Hossain and Mohammad Mithun added on 77 runs for the fourth wicket but with the required rate going up with every delivery, Mithun got out trying to up the ante. After that Nasir was left stranded at the other end as wickets kept on tumbling and he too fell before reaching his fifty. In the end, they conceded way too many runs and were outplayed when they came out to bat as well.
With a big total on the board, Sylhet Strikers needed a decent start to get on top of things and they did get an early breakthrough thanks to Mashrafe Mortaza. One wicket soon became three as the skipper picked up another and so did Mohammad Amir. They failed to pick another wicket for the next 7 or so overs but once they did, their bowlers just ran through the batting order. Mortaza, Amir and Imad Wasim all ended with a couple of wickets each and only Rejaur Rahman was the one who had an off night as he conceded 45 runs in just 3 overs.
Muktar Ali who injured himself earlier in the field will not come out to bat and it will be a pretty comfortable victory in the end for Sylhet Strikers as they make it 4 wins out of 4 and stay firmly on top of the points table. As for Dhaka Dominators, they have been handed a thumping which will adversely affect their net run rate but they have just the two games, so they have time to bounce back.
