So, joint-fastest fifty, a hat-trick and a lot of drama. This league keeps on giving us thriller after thriller. That is all from this game. Join us after a day break on 24th February as Bengaluru will take on UP. That game begins at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). Do join us earlier for the build up. Cheers!
Chinelle Henry wins the PLAYER OF THE MATCH AWARD. She says her role in the team is pretty clear, she is just backing her skills and is happy that her teammate believes in her so much. Tells the ball was still moving when she came in but she just backed her strength. Mentions it was a good series against India in December and it helped a bit. Feels they have to do well in the fielding department.
The captain of UP, Deepti Sharma says it was an important win, and feels this will give them a positive mindset. Tells partnership was key today but feels Henry's inning was unbelievable. Adds she was told to play her game. Admits they have to do better in the fielding department.
...Presentation...
The player of the moment, Grace Harris says that she is enjoying her time in the Women's T20 league. Adds that she is happy to take the hat trick and says that she said jokingly that she was going to take a hat trick and it turned out to be real. Adds that Chinelle Henry is a powerful batter and she bowls well and has a lot of energy and she is a good addition to their middle order batting. Ends by saying that it was a confidence booster for them and they will carry out with the same momentum.
Meg Lanning, the skipper of Delhi says that Chinelle Henry batted really well and she was too good. She says that they were good at the start but failed to carry on with the momentum. Says that they didn't have any answers to Chinelle Henry's batting and ends by saying that they fought but it didn't go their way.
UP will be happy but by no means this was a complete performance from them. They struggled with the bat, dropped numerous chances, and had a couple of stumping chances as well but still ended up on the winning side. The good thing was they had the momentum. Kranti Goud was brilliant with the new ball. Deepti Sharma as usual stepped up for her team. An appreciation post for Grace Harris as well, as she took a hat trick in the final over. Delhi on the other hand will be kicking themselves. They had the game in their grabs for most part but a couple of mistakes landed them on the wrong side.
UP have just one player to thank and it's Chinelle Henry. No way this victory was possible without her. Henry was dropped on 13 and went on to score 62 off just 23 balls. Her innings shifted the momentum towards the UP side and got a lot of belief in them that they could win the game now. Before that, UP were 109/7, struggling to score and losing wickets regularly. Delhi dropped three catches but the vital drop of Henry made the difference. Her joint-fastest fifty in the Women's T20 League could get UP's season back on track as they finally unlock the points table.
On a day where UP have failed to hold on most of the catches end the game with Grace Harris taking a hat trick! You just cannot write the script. What a day for UP. They finally are off the mark this season. UP take the revenge too of beating Delhi this season.
