Right then, that is all we have from the Women’s game of this Super Sunday. It is now time for the men of the same teams to take over. Birmingham Phoenix will go up against Manchester Originals at 11.30 pm IST (6 pm GMT). You can just switch tabs and enjoy the build-up for that game. Cheers!
Sophie Ecclestone is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says that she is happy to contribute to the win. Mentions that the wicket was hard to bat on and it was difficult to score off the slower deliveries. She adds that keeping spin at one end and pace at other end worked well for them. Tells that they have nothing to lose and they just want to play their best cricket.
Presentation time...
The home side, Birmingham Phoenix Women would be disappointed with their batting performance in this game. They did all the hard work with the ball and restricted Manchester Originals Women to a very chaseable total but lost two many wickets upfront with the bat and though Georgia Elwiss, Issy Wong amd Emily Arlott showed some great figthting spirit in the end, the poor start with the bat, eventually cost them the game. Issy Wong and Emily Arlott were brilliant with the ball as well as they picked two wickets apiece in the first half of the game but there batters had an off day in this game and they have missed out on booking a place in the top 3 here.
The tone of this superb bowling performance was set in the Powerplay. They managed to take three wickets in that phase with skipper Kate Cross getting two big wickets and after that everyone chipped in and did their bit as they restricted Birmingham Phoenix Women to 22-5 at one stage. It was always going to be difficult for the batting side from thereon and though there was a decent sixth wicket partnership, Manchester Originals Women had the class of Sophie Ecclestone still in their arsenal and she made sure with her three wickets that her side take those two crucial points from this game. With the bat too Sophie Ecclestone played a handy cameo to back up the good start by their openers and that was the reason they got over 120 in the end.
What a fantastic bowling performance this has been from Manchester Originals Women! They were not defending a big total and needed to be on target with the ball. They did exactly that and have kept their hopes alive in this competition.

Sophie Ecclestone To Abtaha Maqsood OUT!
OUT! RUN OUT! This sums up the entire innings of the Birmingham Phoenix Women. This is on a length and around off, Abtaha Maqsood cuts to towards point and stands there as she knows the match is over, but her partner calls for the run. She is a bit late to respond, and Grace Potts picks up the ball and throws towards the bowler's end where Sophie Ecclestone does the rest. They are celebrating as they know they have won the match whether it is out or not, But the umpires sends it upstairs, and the replays shows that Maqsood is short of her crease and that is a run out. Manchester Originals Women WIN BY 18 RUNS!
