Medal matches locked in - That brings us to the end of a rather one-sided semi-final, with India Women marching on after brushing aside Bangladesh Women in commanding fashion. The Medal Matches in women’s cricket at the 2026 Asian Games are now confirmed, with Bangladesh Women taking on Pakistan Women in the Bronze Medal Match on Tuesday, September 22. That game gets underway at 12 am GMT (5.30 am IST). Then comes the big one. India Women and Sri Lanka Women, who met in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final just a few days ago, will go head-to-head once again, this time with Gold on the line. No respite for the batters - India Women’s bowlers were right on the money from ball one, giving Bangladesh nothing to work with. Nandani Sharma struck with her very first delivery, Kranti Gaud followed with one of her own, and Sree Charani soon joined the party to put India firmly in control inside the Powerplay. Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma also picked up wickets in their opening overs, before Nandini returned to strike twice in two balls and Charani added another to leave India on the brink of victory. Fittingly, it was the leading wicket-taker in this format, Deepti, wrapping things up with the final two wickets and sealing the deal.
Shafali lights up the show - Earlier in the game, after opting to bat first, India Women piled up a massive total, powered by a superb maiden international hundred from Shafali Verma, who remained unbeaten on 100 off 49 balls. The openers raced to 72 in the Powerplay, while Harmanpreet Kaur added a valuable 40 and stitched up a 94-run stand with Verma to ensure India never lost momentum. It was a tough day out for the Bangladesh Women bowlers, although almost everyone chipped in with at least one wicket, barring Sultana Khatun and Shorna Akter, with Sanjida Akter Meghla the pick of the attack with 1/25.
Bangladesh's chase falls apart - Bangladesh Women’s chase never really got going, slipping to 9/2 early and failing to recover. With a daunting target and the required rate climbing steadily, they struggled to cope with the pressure and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Dilara Akter offered some resistance with 27 off 23, but there was little else to cheer for, as eight batters fell for single-digit scores. Bangladesh did not even last the full 20 overs, eventually falling 114 runs short in a disappointing chase.
India storm into the Gold Medal Match - India Women have powered into the Gold Medal Match in emphatic fashion, completely outplaying Bangladesh Women to book their place in the final. It is another chapter in a familiar story, with India once again getting the better of Bangladesh after their Women’s Asia Cup 2026 semi-final meeting. There is also a touch of deja vu from the 2022 Asian Games, as this will be a repeat of that final, where the Women in Blue claimed gold. Now, with Sri Lanka Women standing in their way, India will be aiming to go one step further and successfully defend their crown.
