The rise of the Asian minnows has coincided with the fall of one of the Asian giants. Bangladesh continue to take giant steps and their transformation from cubs to tigers has been very impressive. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are going from bad to worse with every performance and are in some sort of crisis. Something needs to be done before the Lankan Lions become an endangered species. That's all from this game. Do join us on Sunday for the 4th ODI of this tri-nation series involving Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka (once again). The action will begin at 1200 local (0600 GMT). Cheers!
The Man of the Match Award winner Shakib Al Hassan walks in for a chat. He credits all the batsmen for performing as a unit. Feels that Rahim's knock was very vital and praises Tamim for his innings. Adds that they need to keep improving and cannot afford to relax. Hopes that they continue to play in this manner and do all the things right. Also says that they will have to play three games in the space of five days, so they need to get everything right.
The Bangladesh skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza comes in next. He is delighted with the win and says that they have played well in recent times and need to keep going. He adds that there is something to learn from each game. Feels that Tamim should have got a hundred and praises Rahim for his knock. On their bowling performance, Mashrafe replies that they struggled in South Africa but now they are back home and are bowling well. Admits that 320 looked tough but some good batting from Sabbir Rahman helped them. Further adds that Sabbir used to bat at number 3 for them but they felt the need for someone who can hit the ball as hard as him later in the innings. Emphasizes on the fact that they need the top five batsmen to play 40-45 overs like today to be in a good position.
First up, the Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal, comes for an interview. Says that he is disappointed with the loss. Admits that they have been going through a bad patch in ODIs in the recent past and they need to get back to winning ways. Credits Bangladesh for the way they played today. On being asked about the key players missing out and his frame of mind, he opines that it is really tough to pick the first team and repeats that they need to win a couple of games to get back on track. Continues saying that they will go back and think over their performance. Also feels that they still have a chance to enter the final and will have to win the next game.
It was a clinical performance by the Bangla Tigers. They showed intent in their batting and posted a big total on the board. Their batsmen showed maturity and never let the momentum slip. In total, they managed four consecutive 50-plus stands which in a way was the difference between the two sides. They were terrific in the field too with their skipper leading from the front. Shakib had an amazing outing and once again proved his value with an all-round show.
For chasing a target in excess of 300, you need partnerships. The fact that Sri Lanka's best stand was 41 speaks volumes. They never got their run chase going. The regular fall of wickets made it impossible for them to gather any momentum. Plenty of starts for their batsmen but none got converted into anything substantial. An abject surrender from the one-time world champions and they are just not improving. With every game, they are only going backwards and require a big turnaround to stand even a chance to qualify for the final.
Massive, massive win for Bangladesh! They overpowered Sri Lankan by a handsome margin to register their biggest victory in this format (by runs). An extraordinary effort by the Bangla boys as they once again proved that they are a force to reckon with, especially at home. The crowd is delighted in Mirpur, they have got their money's worth after watching such a dominating show by the home team.

Rubel Hossain To Akila Dananjaya OUT!
OUT! That's it! BANGLADESH WIN BY 163 RUNS and register their biggest win in ODIs (in terms of runs). Hossain misses his yorker, it turns out to be a low full toss for Dananjaya, who looks to heave this away over the leg side. But he mistimes his shot and the ball flies straight down the ground. Shakib moves across to his left from mid off to complete the formalities.

Shakib Al Hasan To Thisara Perera OUT!
OUT! Needless shot. Especially when you already have got 20 runs in the over. One shot too many from Thisara but then this is how he bats. Shakib darts this full around off and Perera goes for another heave. But the ball this time goes from the outer half of the bat and flies to Mahmudullah who takes his 50th ODI catch at long off. Shakib has his third wicket.
