Goodbye! That wraps up an exciting second ODI, leaving this thrilling series perfectly balanced at 1-1! Everything now comes down to a winner-takes-all decider on Thursday, April 23rd at 5 am GMT. Be sure to tune in and join us for all the early build-up as we get ready for the grand finale. Until then, take care and cheers!
Bangladesh captain - Mehidy Hasan Miraz says that he is proud of his team's strong comeback after losing the first match. He gave special credit to his fast bowlers, Rana, Shoriful, and Taskin, for doing a fantastic job in difficult conditions. Says that he was impressed by the brilliant 100-plus run partnership between Tanzid and Shanto, which saved the team after losing two early wickets, and he said that Shanto is steadily improving his game.
Nahid Rana is the Player of the Match for his five-wicket haul.
New Zealand captain - Tom Latham says that their total of 198 wasn't enough after Bangladesh's early pressure stopped them from building solid partnerships. He praised Nick Kelly for a brilliant 83 on a tricky, slow pitch but felt the team missed out on an extra 30 to 50 runs due to a lack of support from the rest of the batters. Although they managed a couple of early wickets during the chase, Bangladesh's aggressive approach quickly took the game away. Ends by saying that his team are fully focused on the upcoming series decider in Chattogram, where they hope to adapt quickly to the new ground and put up a strong fight.
Presentations coming up...
Tanzid and Shanto were exceptional - Cometh the hour, cometh the men! Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto completely steadied the ship and took the game right away from the Kiwis. They batted beautifully, putting together a massive match-winning partnership of 120 runs. Tanzid scored a superb 76, while Shanto played the perfect anchor role with a solid 50. By the time they were dismissed, the heavy lifting was done. The rest of the batters comfortably chased down the target to seal the win and level the series 1-1.
Bangladesh felt the heat early on as well - Chasing 199 was never a simple walk in the park, and Bangladesh felt the heat right away. The New Zealand bowlers came out swinging, looking for early breakthroughs to defend their modest total. They got exactly what they wanted when they sent Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar packing early. Inside the first four overs, the hosts were wobbling at 21/2, and the crowd was suddenly feeling very, very tense.
Kelly fought hard - Just when the ship looked like it was sinking, Nick Kelly stepped up to the crease with a brilliant, fighting knock. He quietly and cleverly smashed 83, but the moment Kelly was dismissed, the trapdoor opened. The real star of the innings was young pace sensation Nahid Rana, who came out roaring and ripped through the Kiwi lineup to claim a stunning 5/32. The visitors completely lost their momentum at the death and were bundled out for a below-par 198.
A sticky start for the Kiwis - New Zealand won the toss and decided to put runs on the board, but the Bangladesh bowlers were breathing fire right from the word go. The pitch was slow and runs were incredibly hard to come by. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam tied the openers down, keeping them to just two runs off the first three overs. The visitors were left gasping at 28/2 by the end of the first Powerplay.
