That completes our formalities of this game. It's certainly been among the finest Test matches in recent years. Hope you loved our coverage. The two teams will face off in the final Test starting on October 28 in Dhaka. The action will start 0930 IST. Till then, enjoy the week with the ongoing PAK-WI Test and IND-NZ ODI series. Cheers!
BEN STOKES (MAN OF THE MATCH) says that the plan was for him or Woakes to take the new ball this morning. Says that he is pleased with his performance in testing sub-continental conditions but says there is a long time to go with another six matches left in the season. Says that the preparation has been good to adjust to the hot and humid conditions.
ALASTAIR COOK feels that it was a really good Test match. Feels that both teams fought out well and lauds the batsmen of both teams for performing on such a tough track. States that the reverse swing quality of his side is a big boost in such conditions. Says that his plan was to start with pace this morning due to that skill with spin as a back up. Lavishly praises Stokes for the all-rounder's incredible performance with both bat and ball. Feels his spinners did okay and says it's a good learning curve for them with another six matches in Asia left. Ends by saying that Test cricket is the ultimate challenge.
MUSHFIQUR RAHIM says he is proud of his team's performance despite the loss. Feels that the collapse in the first innings was a crucial moment in the game. Also points out at the Stokes-Bairstow stand in the second innings as another deciding factor. Hopes that his team can build on this performance in the next game. Lauds both the debutants Mehedi and Sabbir for making their presence felt. Says that it was a good Test wicket although not unplayable. Ends by saying that Dhaka too may have a similar surface and feels that it's the challenge of sub-continent.
Bangladesh needed 59 more when the tail was exposed. Sabbir's tactics with the lower order seemed strange with him taking every single on offer. It did help to whittle down the deficit but eventually gave England too many opportunities to take wickets. That proved costly as it took them just 3.3 overs today to take the last 2 wickets. Despite the defeat, it's a performance Bangladesh can be proud of.
Shakib was the star in the second innings with the ball for the hosts. The target of 286 seemed huge but Bangladesh's run chase was extremely positive. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals and at 140/5, it seemed over before Sabbir rose to the occasion. He and Rahim put the hosts back on track before the tourists bounced back to rip out wickets. Sabbir continued to fight though with an aggressive knock.
Bangladesh replied strongly through Tamim's fifty with the middle order all getting starts but then had a horrible collapse, losing 6 wickets for just 27 runs to hand the tourists a very handy lead. Stokes and Ali were the standout bowlers. Bangladesh fought back by reducing England to 62/5 before the lower order once again rescued the visitors. Stokes was the hero with Bairstow firing again.
A hard-fought win for England as they go 1-0 up in the 2-match Test series. What a riveting Test match! There was action right from day one when Cook opted to bat with the track taking spin straightaway. Debutant Mehedi's 6-fer was the highlight for the hosts while Ali and Bairstow led a lower-order fightback to get England to 293 which seemed more than competitive.

Ben Stokes To Shafiul Islam OUT!
OUT! Umpire's call! It indeed is the game. Stokes has once again done it for his team. He dishes out a lovely full delivery outside off and gets it to swerve back in sharply. Shafiul takes his front leg forward but has his bat way back as he looks to defend. But he is thudded on the pads, they appeal and umpire Dharmasena raises his finger. Shafiul takes the referral. The impact looks to be outside off but he has his bat hiding behind the front pad, meaning he wasn't offering any shot. Hence the impact can't be an issue here. But is it curling in enough to hit the stumps, even clipping the stumps will do as the umpire has given it out. Hawk Eye confirms it to be clipping off which means the onfield decision will stay as it is. Heartbreak for Bangladesh. ENGLAND WIN BY 22 RUNS! This is also the narrowest margin of defeat for the hosts in terms of runs which shows they fought very hard in this Test match.
Shaiful has been given out lbw. He opts for the review. Is it the game?

Ben Stokes To Shafiul Islam
Back of a length ball on middle and leg, angling down, Shafiul tries keeping it out in an awkward way but misses.
Shafiul Islam is the last man in. Bangladesh still need 23. England are just one good delivery away. What will Sabbir's tactics be now?

Ben Stokes To Taijul Islam OUT!
OUT! Gone! The English players jump in joy. A review well taken. Stokes angles in a length ball from around off, skidding in and beating the attempted flick shot by Taijul. He is rapped on the pads, they appeal and the batsmen take a couple of runs. The umpire signals for leg byes and immediately Stokes convinces his skipper to take the DRS. The third umpire starts his job. It's not a no ball first up. Now the replay moves away, it's hitting the batsman in line, no edge involved but where is this heading? Looks to be clipping leg. No, it's in fact hitting the leg stump and Taijul has to go. England on the brink now. They need 1 more wicket, Bangladesh need 23 runs.
Appeal for an lbw. Not given and England take the referral.

Stuart Broad To Taijul Islam
Full length ball sliding down the leg side, it's clipped away nicely for a single at deep square leg. He has retained strike, thereby giving England another opportunity to have a go at him. Interesting ploy by Sabbir to agree for a run. 23 more needed.

Stuart Broad To Taijul Islam
Good delivery, tailing into the left-hander from outside off, Taijul does well to play it out. He flicks it with the nice use of his wrists and pushes it to backward square leg.
Once again attacking field for Taijul Islam.

Stuart Broad To Sabbir Rahman
Broad further pitches it up and lands it outside off, Sabbir squeezes it out at covers, the fielder is standing a bit deep and they steal a single.

Another solid front foot defense by Sabbir. Very watchful and rightly so!

Stuart Broad To Sabbir Rahman
Fuller and on off, darted in, Sabbir gets behind the line and defends it solidly.
Second new ball is now available. England haven't taken it yet, presumably due to the reverse swing that they got last evening.

Play and a miss! Stokes delivers a length ball outside off, a hint of inward shape there, Taijul stays back, has a nervous push at it but misses as the ball beats the inside edge. Nervy moments!

Ben Stokes To Taijul Islam
FOUR! Not in control but Bangladesh won't mind it at all! Stokes switches to around the wicket and bangs in a short ball on middle, Islam takes the challenge to pull it across the line but the bounce gets big on him and takes his gloves. It balloons over the keeper and speeds down to the fence. Vital runs. 25 more needed!

Ben Stokes To Sabbir Rahman
Stokes offers width outside off, Sabbir pushes at it and runs it down through backward point. He takes a single, signs that he is trusting Taijul to hang in.
