End of another ruthless performance from the Aussies. They are making a habit of this now. New Zealand, on the other hand, have a lot of thinking to do. They have to come up with a better performance in the last Test. A win is what they would want to salvage some pride and for Australia, they would be eager to whitewash the visitors. It is a dead rubber but still a lot to play for in the final Test which begins on the 3rd of January at 1030 local (2330 GMT Previous Day). Till then, take care and goodbye!
TRAVIS HEAD HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Feels amazing to contribute to an Australian win. On the best part for him about that innings. Head feels that temperament was the biggest asset as he was able to get through the hard period without throwing his wicket away - something he was struggling in the first Test. Thanks the coaching staff for their continuous support and trusting in him, especially after words of a possible drop for this game.
Victorious Australian captain, Tim Paine, finds the series win very pleasing. Adds that the whole Test was very satisfying, starting from the batsmen's discipline in spite of losing the toss and then the bowlers strutting their stuff. Is happy that the bowlers are sharing the load equally. On his and Head's knock putting together the missed pieces, Paine refuses to admit that, saying that Australia have been playing well but just need to be a bit more consistent. Calls this wicket as very good one for Test cricket, moving sideways on Day 1 but then getting difficult to bat on once the divots started to appear.
New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson, admits that once Australia got 400, the match became very difficult for his side. Admits that his side could not make use of the surface, in spite of the sideways and lateral movement. Stresses on the accuracy by the Australian bowlers which made the difference. Hopes to improve those come Sydney. On difficulty in winning in Australia. Willy admits that it is difficult and being against a very good opposition can be even more challenging. But also says that the team needs to rise and learn from mistakes. On Wagner's lion-hearted performance, Kane smiles and says that he never gets tired of bowling. Lauds Blundell as well for registering a Boxing Day century. Wishes that his team can start converting its starts and get partnerships.
The Kiwis started their second innings in a good manner but James Pattinson ran through the top order. There were a few partnerships then, Tom Blundell was a part of every stand, he was probably the only positive New Zealand have had in this series. He showed great resilience, fight, grit and played a knock he would remember for a very long time. However, it was too much of an ask and one task which was impossible for a single player to complete. Also, 4th innings, 4th Day so you would expect Lyon to come to the fore. That was the case as he was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with a four-fer.
In reply, the Aussie pacers bundled New Zealand out for a mere 148. Pat Cummins was the star for them with a fifer but Pattinson and Starc supported him extremely well. Australia then decided to not enforce the follow-on. They batted for around 2 sessions, took their lead close to 500 before declaring on the morning of the 4th Day.
End of another dominating performance by the Australians! They have literally blown aside the Kiwis in both the Tests. It is an emphatic series win for them. The only time Kiwis seemed to be in the game was when Boult got Burns in the first over on the first day after winning the toss and electing to bowl but that was it. After that, it was all about Australia. They managed to post a mammoth score in the first innings courtesy a ton from Head and a good innings from Smith.

Marnus Labuschagne To Tom Blundell OUT!
OUT! That is clean as a whistle! That is the end of the game! Tom Blundell is the last man to get out. End of an outstanding innings. An innings of high caliber. He was going after every delivery now and departs in the attempt to do so. He steps out and hammers this low towards Lyon at mid off who seems to have taken it. The Aussie players start celebrating, the batsman is seen shaking hands with the Australians. The umpires though want to get it checked. They take it upstairs. The SOFT SIGNAL IS OUT! Replays roll in and they show it is a clean catch. AUSTRALIA WIN BY 247 RUNS!
Is that the end of the game? The players are shaking hands but the umpire takes it upstairs to be sure. The SOFT SIGNAL IS OUT!
