That's all from our side for the day. Join us on 17th January for the third ODI to be played at Melbourne at 0850 IST. Goodbye for now!
STEVEN SMITH says that the Aussies did well to restrict India to less than 310. Thinks that the bowlers did a brilliant job to pull things back towards the end of the innings. Adds that Bailey's innings was a magnificent one and he did well to complete the game for them.
MS DHONI says that losing even after putting 300-plus targets is disappointing and it puts more pressure on the batsmen. Accepts that bowling extras and wides took the pressure off the batsmen and they bowled a lot of them during crucial moments. Thinks that their fielding was good but the bowling needs to improve. Adds that they need to play well in the next game and score more, maybe 330-odd.
Man of the Match goes to ROHIT SHARMA. He says that it's disappointing to be on the losing side no matter how many one scores. Adds that he loves playing here as the wickets are good and you get value for the shots. Further says that he is glad with his performance but unhappy with the defeat. Ends up saying that he is looking forward to Melbourne now.
The bowlers just like the first game struggled once again. They went for a plenty of runs and it was pretty similar to the last game. Ishant Sharma dropped an important catch that of Shaun Marsh and that was a costly one. The spinners couldn't restrict the batsmen and that's one area of concern for the Indians. The post match presentation coming up shortly...
That's a comprehensive victory for Australia. Back-to-back run chases of 300-plus for the Aussies in the two opening games. That effort deserves a huge round of applause. First it was the opening pair which laid the foundation with a 145-run stand. Both were dismissed on 71 and they would be pleased with their effort. After that, it was the pair of George Bailey and Steven Smith who had a 78-run stand for the third wicket and sealed the fate of the match. Smith was dismissed by Umesh Yadav but Bailey carried on in the same manner and in the process brought up his fifty yet again.
