So, that is it from the coverage of this game. Australia have emerged victorious and their good times at the Gabba continues. Although the victory was not as easy as it looks on the scorecard. The hosts were not at their best with the bat and the ball but still came out on top which is a good sign for them. England, on the other hand, will now have to regroup quickly and come out fighting in the next game. Will we see the away side bounce back? Or will Australia continue their winning run at home over the Englishmen? All will be answered in the next Test which is a Day/Night one in Adelaide, starting on 2nd December at 1400 local (0330 GMT). Till then, take care and cheers!
Australia skipper and the Man of the Match, Steven Smith says that they had to show good character after losing the toss. Reckons the wicket was quite slow. Appreciates Nathan Lyon for his bowling and feels he is getting better. Admits it was tough after they were 4 down for 76 but they showed character to still get into the lead. Praises the two openers for their knocks in the second innings. Mentions this is one of his most vital hundreds. Adds he wanted to keep his team's record at the Gabba intact. Feels his bowlers bowled well as a unit and he would hope for the same to continue. Further adds that they would like to repeat the performance in Adelaide and continue their good record there as well. Credits Tim Paine for his keeping and also for the review of Broad which nobody except for the keeper heard. Finishes by saying he is very proud of the way his boys fought.
England skipper, Joe Root says that they were excellent for the first three days. Admits that they let go of opportunities when they had Australia down. Feels it is frustrating but it is important not to repeat them. Praises James Vince and Mark Stoneman for their performance in the first innings. Referring to James Anderson and Moeen Ali's niggles, Root says that they will be fine. He is confident about them bouncing back. (On the story over Jonny Bairstow) He replies that it has been made a big issue and they just have to move on and concentrate on playing cricket.
Pat Cummins, who played his first Test in Australia, is also interviewed. Says that he is very happy with the win. Admits that the first two days were tough but it's a really good result. Reminds everyone about Australia's impressive record here. Reckons they can bowl a lot better and become more clinical. On the day/night Test, Pat replies that most of the games finish on 3rd or 4th day, a few Shield games ended in 2-3 days, so from a bowler's point of view it's good to get some rest. Praises his skipper Steven Smith for rotating the bowlers really well. On his fitness, Pat smiles and replies that no issues there, his body feels great. He also lauds Nathan Lyon and says you cannot underestimate his role.
David Warner says that it's fantastic to go out there and get a good partnership and go over the line without losing a wicket. Adds that this is what they work hard for. On his new opening partner, Warner replies that Cameron Bancroft is calm and composed and allows him to play his game. Further adds that England tried to play on his ego by setting a leg side field this morning and he was just trying to get off strike. Praises his skipper for a fantastic knock and also lauds Nathan Lyon for his exceptional bowling.
Cameron Bancroft says that it was fun to share a good partnership with David Warner. On getting his Baggy Green, Bancroft replies that it's one of the most treasurable things he possesses. When asked about the pitch, Cameron answers that it was difficult to score and patience was the key to success.
Just when it appeared that England are done and dusted, the pair of Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow combined forces and counterattacked. Given the conditions, any target over 200 would have been a challenging one and the visiting team certainly looked poised to achieve that. But then arrived a debatable stumping decision against Moeen Ali and the English innings soon folded, losing last four wickets for only 10 runs, thereby setting a target of 170 which was eventually scaled down with utmost ease.
Be it England's collapse - 56/6 in the first innings, Australia getting reduced to 76/4 in their reply, Steven Smith's epic unbeaten century, his 99-run stand with Shaun Marsh, followed by a momentum-shifting partnership of 66 runs with Pat Cummins which deflated the English team. Not to forget the hostile pace bowling by Australia in the last hour on day 3. Till yesterday, even though England were effectively 7/2 in the morning, they weren't entirely out of the contest. However, losing three wickets in a session pushed them deep into a hole.
The scorecard not always tells the real story though. The victory margin might just reflect that Australia dominated England throughout but that was not the case. There were key junctures in this match and both sides had their fair share of moments.
On the first morning of this Test, we mentioned that this venue is often referred to as the Gabbatoir, a slaughterhouse where Australia have been ruthless. The story didn't change this time around too as they once again crushed England to extend their dominance over them at this venue.
Massive victory for Australia to kickstart their Ashes campaign in style. Chasing a target of 170, their openers didn't put a single foot wrong and overhauled the target without breaking a sweat. A really morale-boosting win for them.

Chris Woakes To Cameron Bancroft
FOUR! That is it! Bancroft finishes it in style. Excellent by the youngster, remains unbeaten in the run chase on his Test debut and also hits the winning runs for his team, a big confidence booster for him. Coming to the ball now - It's full on off, Bancroft drives it uppishly past the silly mid off fielder who leaps and tries to get two hands at it but is late to react. The ball goes through mid off for a boundary. Warner walks up to the youngster and gives him a handshake and a hug. Turns towards the dressing room and gives a fist pump as they walk off to a standing ovation from the crowd. AUSTRALIA WIN BY 10 WICKETS!

FOUR! SCORES LEVEL! Very uncharacteristic by Woakes. He serves another full toss outside off, too easy for a player who is playing in the high 70s. He drives it through mid off to fetch himself a boundary.

He is in a hurry here! Shorter in length outside off, Warner makes room and cuts it over point for a couple. Cook does the mopping up job coming in from third man, yes third man. Not often you see him in the deep.
