So that's it from all of us for this game. Hope you enjoyed our coverage for the same. We look forward to your company in the ODI series starting on March 15, 2017. Action begins 0930 local time (0400 GMT). Until then, it's goodbye and take care!
Afghanistan skipper, Asghar Stanikzai starts off thanking the Almighty. Calls it a proud moment for Afghanistan, having won 11 T20Is in a row. About the score on board, he says that wicket was a good one and 180 was a par score. Credits Mohammad Shahzad for taking responsibility well and Mohammad Nabi for finishing well. He lauds the effort of the bowlers and was always sure of winning the series due to the presence of Rashid Khan. He then thanks the Afghan supporters.
Ireland skipper, William Porterfield says that it was a fantastic game of cricket. Feels that they were in the game till the end but could not finish it off. Congratulates the Afghanistan team for the victory. Opines that bringing the game till the last over showed some grit. Applauds his team for playing some good cricket. Adds that India is a beautiful place to play in. Ends by saying that there would be a couple of new faces who will be joining them for the ODIs.
Plenty of awards to follow. Best Batsman of the series - Mohammad Nabi, Best Bowler of the Series - Rashid Khan, Man of the Match - Mohammad Nabi, Man of the Series - Rashid Khan.
Ireland will be disappointed with the way this T20I series panned out. They had their moments but were always catching up to the all-round skill of Afghanistan. Earlier today, they elected to bowl but allowed the hosts to get away with the game. Shahzad set it up with a 43-ball 72 and Nabi just nailed the Irish bowlers over the park, with a ballistic 89.
Stuart Thompson unfazed by the loss of his partner, carried on the fireworks from the other end before he was castled by Amir Hamza. The middle order once again failed before Gary Wilson stepped up to register his second T20I fifty. He was threatening to take the game away but Rashid Khan then took three wickets in an over to ensure Afghanistan had the game in their kitty. Nabi was the man who hit a 30-ball 89 earlier and he rightly finished off the game in his last over with a wicket.
A spirited chase from Ireland comes to an end, Paul Stirling gave them a blazing start as they notched up 91/1 in the Powerplay. Shapoor Zadran had him dropped off his bowling and he avenged the hits taking the Irish opener down after a 20-ball 49. Ireland did not give up though and kept playing their shots.
