That is it from this game, a clinical performance by Afghanistan while it was a poor effort from Bangladesh overall. Will the hosts seal the deal in the next game? or will we see a fightback from the visitors? For all the answers, join us back on 5th June 2000 Local (14:30 GMT)... Adios!
Rashid Khan gets the Man of the Match award for his brilliant spell. His figures read 3-0-13-3 which g. He thinks there is no secret to success. He was just trying to do his basics right and feels enjoying the game is very important. He doesn't believe in having a specific plans for any batsman. He informs there was a little dew but it didn't mattered in a big way as the ball skidded a lot and helped their spinners. Confidence of doing well in the big games does help a lot.
Asghar Stanikzai thanks the all mighty first before answering any questions. He feels it is important to start on a winning note in such a small series. He was happy with the start which they got and momentum was with them from there on. He says they were pretty much aware about the conditions and expected his bowlers to do well on this ground. He thanks crowd for supporting them.
Shakib Al Hasan feels they were good with the ball, but they lost the plot in the final ten overs and conceded too many runs. He thinks there is a lot they need to improve on before the next game. He thinks Afghanistan played really well today and outplayed them in all the three aspects of the game. Overall, there are so many areas where they need to improve on but he is confident, that his side will come back stronger in the next game. He wanted a big effort from the top order batsmen in the run chase and thinks partnerships are very crucial in such chases which they failed to get.
Rashid Khan was introduced late into the attack, but he made impact straightaway. He got back-to-back wickets of Rahim and Sabbir and ensured his side continued to dominate the game. With wickets falling regularly, this game was heading in just one direction. Shapoor Zadran's three wicket over helped Afghanistan close the game in the 19th over and take the 1-0 lead in the series.
A brilliant all-round effort from the Afghan team. They were simply outstanding with the ball tonight and never really allowed the visiting team to get on top. Earlier, the host team posted a formidable total, thanks to few cameos from their middle-order batsmen. In the chase, Mujeeb struck with the very first delivery and got the big wicket of Tamim. Liton Das did try to get the run chase back on track but he got a 50-50 decision which could have gone either way. Following which, Bangladesh never really managed to get back into the game.
