Inn Break
We shift to Hyderabad - That’s a wrap from Bengaluru, but we now move to Hyderabad, where the second game of the day is already underway. The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been asked to bat first by the Chennai Super Kings. The home side has blazed away to a strong start. You can switch tabs and follow all the action there. Cheers!
The stand-in captain of the Delhi Capitals - Axar Patel is unable to come out for the interview due to cramps. KL Rahul is in for the chat instead. Rahul, on whether he would repeat the bat-planting celebration like last year, denies it and calls it a one-time thing. Calls it a good cricket match overall. Says that the wicket was a decent one but did a bit early on. Highlights that he could see Virat and Salt were not happy with the ball not coming on the bat. Rahul says it wasn't easy for DC as they lost three early wickets in the Powerplay. Details that the plan was to try and keep playing good cricketing shots and find ways to hit boundaries. Mentions that they didn't want to get into a defensive shell and put pressure on the bowlers. KL says they didn't want to take the game too deep and affirms his faith in both Stubbs and Miller to get the job done. Adds that they have repeatedly done this job for South Africa and in franchise cricket as well. On the final over, Rahul details that they knew the last over would be a big gamble for RCB and knew it would be either Shepherd or Suyash bowling, so they believed of having a good chance. Admits that they didn't want to take the game to the 20th over, but they will take this win.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Tristan Stubbs wins the award for his match-winning knock of 60* off 47 balls. He says he wasn’t quite ready when he had to walk in at 18 for 3, but kept it simple by focusing on watching the ball. Coming in early, he felt the last couple of overs of the Powerplay were an opportunity to be aggressive, but with KL Rahul going well and keeping the momentum, he was happy to give him most of the strike. On the pitch, he says it wasn’t turning much, but it was slightly slow and low. Speaking about the finish alongside David Miller, he says the thought was to stay in the game with a couple of big hits, believing that even if it went deep, they could get what was required in the final over. Tristan adds that he always believed they would get over the line, even if he wasn’t sure how, and credits Miller, saying finishing games like that is his bread and butter.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
A quick word with DC's man of the moment - David Miller says it feels really good, especially after the disappointment of the game against GT, and adds that getting the job done today is satisfying. He admits that such moments stay at the back of the mind until you win again, and says his focus is on staying in the moment and doing what he can for the team. Miller mentions that he faced a string of yorkers and found it difficult to get going initially, but is pleased that things came together in the final overs. On his chat with Tristan Stubbs, David says the plan was ideally to finish the game in the penultimate over, but given the equation, they knew they needed a couple of sixes. He adds that the focus was on limiting dot balls and capitalising on boundary opportunities. Miller also shares that the multiple breaks in play made it challenging to maintain rhythm, but says Stubbs urged him to keep the intensity high, which helped. Miller says it is always enjoyable finishing games alongside Stubbs and reveals that Stubbs thanked him, saying, 'You saved me there.'
The captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru - Rajat Patidar says that it went really close and also admits that they were 15-20 runs short. Says the start from their openers was excellent but admits that losing wickets in a cluster in the middle over phase pushed them on the back foot. About the pitch, Patidar mentions that the wicket was a bit tacky in the first innings, which he feels, made batting a bit tricky. On the lessons learned from this loss, he adds that it is a very long tournament, so the focus is to get back, assess where they went wrong and make the necessary corrections moving forward.
DC restricted RCB effectively - After being asked to bat first, it was an unusually slow start for RCB, as their openers took time to come to terms with the surface. Phil Salt then got going and brought up his second fifty of the season, with RCB clear in their intent, given the batting depth they possess. DC made a conscious effort to keep the ball away from the batters' arc, which proved effective, and it allowed them to chip away at the wickets. They even closed out the innings strongly, with just 2 boundaries (1 four and 1 six) coming in the last 5 overs.
Experience made the difference - Chasing 176, DC were rocked early as Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck thrice in the Powerplay. KL Rahul then steadied the ship and pulled DC out of early trouble. It was looking comfortable for the Capitals until Rahul’s departure gave RCB an opening. At one stage, it did not seem like the game would get this close, with just 59 needed off the last 7 overs, but credit to RCB for applying the squeeze and Axar Patel's tryst with cramps also had a part to play. Thankfully for DC, Miller came through for them and took them past the finishing line.
Redemption for Miller - Miller comes up clutch and seals it for the Capitals. A sense of relief on his face, as if he has buried the ghosts of the past. With this win, the Capitals move up to the 4th spot in the standings. RCB's party for their 100th IPL home game, on the occasion of their annual Green Day, has been spoiled by DC. They will, however, take heart from the fight shown with the ball.

Romario Shepherd To David Miller
FOUR! Miller has done it for DC! A cathartic exhale from the Proteas batter as he slays the demons of the past. Shepherd bowls another loose ball. It is the full toss on the pads, and Miller accepts the invitation and whips it uppishly and in the deep mid-wicket gap for a boundary to seal the deal. DELHI CAPITALS WIN BY 6 WICKETS!

Romario Shepherd To David Miller
SIX! Killer Miller, right on cue for DC. Shepherd bowls it full and wide, misses the yorker by a yard or so, not much. David Miller crouches low, gets under the ball nicely and smashes it cleanly over deep extra cover for a cracking six. Stubbs enjoys it at the other end. SCORES ARE LEVEL NOW.

Romario Shepherd To David Miller
Miller misses out! Fired on a fuller length, outside leg. David Miller swings for the hills by clearing the front leg, but fails to get any sort of connection and wears on the front pad. The ball rolls to the off side and they cross for a leg bye. On any other day, Miller would have sent that to the moon.
Right, Romario Shepherd has been trusted for the final over with the Capitals needing 15 runs. He hasn't bowled so far tonight. What a time to be thrown the ball.

Very full and on middle and leg. Stubbs drills it straight back at the bowler. Bhuvneshwar Kumar sticks his right hand out to stop the ball but deflects it to Miller, who turns back at the non-striker's end and the ball then rolls wide of mid off for a single. 41 runs needed off 24 balls.
Halt! Axar Patel is down on the ground again. The physio rushes out. Axar is back on his feet now and takes a few steps to assess how he is feeling. The decision has been made. The DC skipper is going off. He is being helped off the field by the DC 12th man, Ashutosh Sharma and RCB's Krunal Pandya. David Miller joins Tristan Stubbs out in the middle.

STRATEGIC BREAK! This is still at a knife's edge as DC still need 46 runs from 30 balls, and a wicket can really turn the game on its head. The Capitals need a boundary or two every over to shrink the gap between runs and balls. And with Miller yet to come out, one would believe that the visitors have a slight upper hand. But you just never know. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2-0-9-3) is back into the attack. He replaces Suyash Sharma.

Krunal Pandya To Tristan Stubbs
Flat and full, on off. Stubbs plays from the crease and nudges it wide of mid-wicket for a quick single.
STRATEGIC BREAK! Delhi Capitals are stitching together a recovery after being rocked early. KL Rahul has maintained a good tempo, while Tristan Stubbs is still finding his feet on this slightly slow surface. The 8 overs of spin from Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma will be crucial through this middle phase and could well shape the outcome of this contest. From RCB's perspective, Suyash will need to be right on the money and put that expensive first over behind him.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar To Pathum Nissanka OUT!
OUT! LBW! RCB get the review right, and the Chinnaswamy crowd go ballistic. This tails back into the right-hander, on a good length, on middle. Nissanka walks down the pitch, but he is undone by the big, booming inswinger by Bhuvi. He hurriedly drops his bat down but the ball goes past the inside edge to rap him on the front pad.
