That concludes the proceedings for the second T20I. The last match of this series is on Thursday, 1st April 2021, in Auckland at 1900 local (0600 GMT). You can join us well in advance for the build-up. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
Tim Southee, the captain of New Zealand, starts by calling it an unusual game with the rain around but he is glad that his boys adjusted well. Tells that it's been a great summer and they were privileged to have teams travel here in these times. Southee admits that Bangladesh did put them under pressure. Praises Glenn Phillips for doing a great job with the wet ball and shares that he just went with his gut feeling regarding the bowling changes. Informs that the slower deliveries were holding up. He is pleased to get over the line and is now looking to end their summer on a high.
Mahmudullah, the captain of Bangladesh, starts by saying there was a bit of confusion related to the DLS target. Feels they were on track in the first 10 overs but then lost the plot in the next 6. States that Naim and Sarkar gave them the momentum but Sodhi and Phillips' overs were extremely good and they failed to capitalize. Shares that Taskin's outstanding catch gave them a lot of confidence. Feels that it's important to finish well in the T20 format which is not happening for them at the moment. Mentions that the top order has been in great form and hopes to take the positives into the next match.
Glenn Phillips is chosen for the Man of the Match award! Says that they were trying to hit the ball hard and run a lot of twos. Talking about Daryl Mitchell, Phillips mentions that to have a partner at the other end who is on fire really helps. Tells that there is always a dilemma regarding DLS when you're thinking about going hard or saving wickets as it might affect the equation. States that he has been working on his bowling and it's always about handling nerves.
Earlier in the match, we witnessed a good bowling and fielding show from Bangladesh, for a change. However, the rain break spoiled their good work as New Zealand managed to bounce back through the powerful stand between Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell. Their scintillating hitting provided the late surge to the Kiwis and due to that the revised target for Bangladesh, turned out to be more than enough in the end.
The chase of Bangladesh was all about the partnership between Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar. They batted with authority and managed to steal the momentum away from New Zealand. The pair started the onslaught by targeting Ish Sodhi's first over which went for 19 runs and followed that up with 20 runs from Adam Milne's second over. However, Tim Southee's decision to hand the ball to Glenn Phillips, the part-timer, did the magic for the Blackcaps. He bowled a very tidy first over and then Sodhi redeemed himself by delivering a 5-run over after that. Due to a couple of dry overs, the required rate mounted and it resulted in the wickets of first Sarkar and then Naim. The chase derailed after that with the Kiwi bowlers finding the target and bowling enough good balls to defend the total.
End of a rain-truncated game and New Zealand have taken an unassailable lead in the 3-match T20I series. Once again Bangladesh chose to offer a fight in the second match of the series but again it was not enough to beat New Zealand. The Blackcaps have now extended their dominance this summer after bagging their 7th series at home.

Hamish Bennett To Mahedi Hasan
What happened there? Miscommunication between Southee and Guptill. A knuckle delivery, around off, Mahedi mistimes it in the air over extra cover and Southee from inside the ring and Guptill from long off go for it. The former leaves it alone thinking that the latter will go for it, Guptill does the same. Funny! The ball drops right in the middle of them. One run taken.

Hamish Bennett To Liton Das OUT!
OUT! Liton holes out! Well caught in the deep by Glenn Phillips. Short in length and on middle, Das goes for the pull shot but it comes from the higher half of his bat and travels to the fielder in the deep at mid-wicket. Phillips grabs a nice low catch and Bangladesh lose their first wicket. The shot was on but the extra bounce probably proved to be Liton's downfall. 157 needed off 84 balls.

Hamish Bennett To Mohammad Naim
Goes aerial, Naim. Lofts a length ball over cover-point. There is a protection in the deep and hence, only a run taken.

Hamish Bennett To Mohammad Naim
A touch short and on off, Naim stays back to play it down to point. Dot again.
CONFIRMED NOW! DLS is very tough to understand, have to say. 171 is the magic number, in 16 overs. We already have 9 balls bowled, so please do the maths. Bennett to resume his spell...
Hang on a minute! The two umpires get together and have stopped the play. Jeff Crowe, the match referee, is working on the sheet for the revised target. It was 148 in 16 overs initially. Let's see if there is any change. Haven't seen this before. A bit bizarre!

FOUR! That's a great boundary! Back of a length delivery outside off, angling away, Naim hangs on the back foot and punches it sweetly through point for a boundary. For your information, we are yet to hear from the match referee for the official revised target. We shall let you know if there is any change!

Hamish Bennett To Liton Das
A yorker length ball on off, dipping in, Liton keeps his eyes on the delivery and digs it out towards mid off for a run.

Wide! A loosener, on a good length and angling down the leg side, Das fails to get any bat on it.
Hamish Bennett to speed in from the other end.

FOUR! That's one way to tackle movement. Liton advances down the track to a good length delivery and flat-bats it over the bowler's end. Not quite gets hold of the shot but still has made enough connection to send it past the fence.

Tim Southee To Liton Das
Beaten! An extra bit of zip from the surface. On a good length and close to off, seaming away, Das feels for it inside the line and misses.
