And that's a wrap! India Women have a good 2-0 lead in this series, while England Women have to fight back as all three games have become a do-or-die clash for them. Stay tuned for the thrilling third T20I on Friday, July 4th, at 5.35 pm GMT. Join us for pre-match excitement and live coverage. Until next time, cheers!
The skipper of the India Women, Harmanpreet Kaur, starts by saying it was a really good victory for the team, with contributions coming from all departments, and it was heartening to watch the entire unit click together. Adds that seeing everyone step up and play their roles made the win even more special. Mentions that the partnership between Jemimah and Amanjot stood out, as the way they batted laid the perfect foundation. States that their knock gave the team a solid total to defend, and the bowlers backed it up brilliantly in the second innings. Further adds that what impressed her most was how both batters kept the scoreboard moving, not just with boundaries, but by rotating strike smartly and picking up twos consistently. Talks about how their intent, responsibility, and smart decision-making in the middle overs made a big difference. Finally, she highlights the importance of adapting to the conditions, saying that with such big boundaries, batters must always look to run hard and capitalise on every scoring opportunity when the big shots don’t come.
The skipper of England Women, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, starts by saying that this time around in the first inning, they did manage to pick up wickets, which was a big improvement from their first game, where they struggled in that department. Adds that what they really lacked today were strong, lasting partnerships with the bat, which made it tough to build any momentum. Mentions that they couldn’t adapt quickly enough to the conditions, though Lauren Bell stood out with an impressive performance and showed real commitment throughout. States that as a team, they need to continue backing their players and give their batters the freedom to express themselves without fear. Further adds that while Tammy and Amy stitched together a promising stand and gave the side some hope, they needed one more solid partnership to really push on. Talks about a young player who’s been in stunning form in domestic cricket, and how satisfying it is to see her carry that confidence into this level. Finally, she assures that this isn’t the end of the road, as they’ll regroup, come back with fresh ideas, and focus on executing their plans more effectively in the upcoming matches.
Amanjot Kaur is adjudged the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her impressive all-around performance. She starts by saying that she’s feeling quite overwhelmed and honestly didn’t expect things to turn out this way, but is absolutely thrilled to have contributed to the team’s victory. Adds that injuries are just part of the sport, and she had mentally prepared herself for the comeback. Mentions that there was no real pressure about returning to the field, as she was fully ready, determined, and excited to get back out there. States that the break actually gave her time to plan things out carefully, and with the support of her trainer and coach, she worked on all the little details needed to make a strong return. Further adds that it was Jemimah Rodrigues’ approach that really stood out today. Talks about how the two of them complemented each other well in the middle, pacing their partnership smartly. Finally, she gives credit to the bowlers for their efforts on what she felt was a decent batting surface, and shares that the team had discussed a target around 150, which they felt was defendable, and in the end, they made it count.
Time for the Post-Match Presentations...
Earlier in the match, India Women posted 181 after a solid batting performance. Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur shared a crucial 93-run partnership to steady the innings after India's top order stumbled. Both scored past a half century while Richa Ghosh added a quickfire cameo in the end. Lauren Bell picked up two wickets and was the standout bowler for England Women.
The Indian bowlers were instrumental in England's downfall, with Shree Charani picking up two crucial wickets and Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur chipping in with one wicket each. Also, a special mention for the fielding of the India Women as they did extremely well in doing run-outs. Now, their dominance over England continues, and they'll look to seal the series now!
With the middle and lower order struggling to find footing, England's hopes of chasing down the target began to dwindle. The scoring rate slowed down as Amy Jones couldn't quite hold on, departing in the 15th over. Though Sophie Ecclestone tried to fight in the end overs but that wasn't enough as the required rate was too high and daunting. It was a masterclass in bowling and fielding from India Women, as they defeated the English side by 24 runs!
India Women continue with their dominance and take a 2-0 lead in this series! England Women's chase of 182 got off to a shaky start, with three wickets tumbling down in quick succession. Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones showed flashes of brilliance, with Beaumont bringing up a half-century. However, her momentum was halted in the 12th over when she fell victim to a suicidal run, a dash for a quick single that didn't quite pay off.

DRINKS! England Women have picked up a pace, courtesy of the last over, which went for 16 runs, and Tammy Beaumont is looking in some fine form here. They still need 106 runs in the last ten, and they don't have much batting left if the wickets get down. Hence, this partnership means a lot for them, and England will count on them to get them home. On the flip side, India Women did manage to pick three wickets early within the Powerplay, but since then, their bowlers have lacked the required penetration. They need to regroup and chip in more wickets if they are eyeing another win. With this, Shree Charani comes back into the attack.
