Inn Break
All smiles in the England camp as Harry Brook makes his way to collect the trophy and joins his teammates for the photographs. That brings the curtain down on West Indies' tour of England. The Men in Maroon now head to Ireland for the T20I leg of their trip, with the first of three matches scheduled for 12th June. England, meanwhile, will turn their focus to red ball cricket as they prepare for a five-match Test series at home against India starting on 20th June. But before all that, the spotlight shifts to the biggest stage in Test cricket. Australia are set to face South Africa in the World Test Championship Final at the Lord's Cricket Ground, starting Wednesday, 11th June. The first ball will be bowled at 9.30 am GMT, and we will be with you early for all the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye.
The captain of England, Harry Brook says he is very pleased with the performance and mentions that having Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid operating in the middle overs brings great control and balance to the side. He praises Luke Wood and Brydon Carse for their efforts with the ball. While he admits it has been a challenge, he adds that it has also been a very rewarding experience. He appreciates the depth in the batting unit, noting that it gives the players at the top the freedom to play with intent. Shares that he will be preparing as well as possible for the Test series against India and acknowledges that there is still plenty for him to learn in his role as captain.
Shai Hope, the captain of West Indies, says that it is about grasping the crucial moments. Adds that they haven't been able to put up a complete performance and that is why they are falling short in games. Mentions that they need to reduce the dot balls, as they know that they have a few power-hitters but they also have to find other ways to score some runs. Says that there is a lot of areas to improve and he is looking forward to the Ireland series.
Jos Buttler is the PLAYER OF THE SERIES for scoring 165 runs across the 3 games. He says he really enjoyed the series and there is a lot of confidence in the group. Mentions that they played positive cricket and now have the results to show for it. Shares that for him, it is about constantly finding ways to improve. Having played for a while now, he states it’s about using that experience and doing what the situation demands.
Ben Duckett is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his scintillating knock of 84 runs from 46 balls. Duckett says that it was obviously a great pitch to bat on and the ball didn't do much. Adds that Jamie Smith batted brilliantly and took the pressure off him. Mentions that he has batted a lot with Smith in Tests and he is a terrific player and it is great to bat alongside him. Says that in T20Is, he tries a few expansive shots but also sticks to his basics and backs his strengths.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett set the tone for England with a 120-run opening stand. Contributions from Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell provided the finishing touches as the hosts posted 248, their second-highest total in T20 Internationals. The tourists did manage to regain some control in the second half of the innings, but the damage had already been done, and they couldn’t close it out the way they would have hoped.
West Indies had a mountain to climb, and their chase got off to a shaky start with both openers dismissed inside the first five overs. Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope offered flashes of promise, but neither managed to convert their starts into meaningful contributions. That left Rovman Powell with too much to do on his own, and the big overs didn’t come frequently enough for West Indies to stay in the hunt. Luke Wood, Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson combined effectively for England, slipping in quiet overs that steadily pushed up the required run rate. Despite Powell’s efforts, the visitors fell well short.
England complete the clean sweep! First in the ODIs and now in the T20Is, it has been a bright start to Harry Brook’s white ball captaincy tenure. This win was set up by the batters and the bowlers followed through to wrap up a commanding victory. As for the West Indies, it is a sixth straight defeat across formats and a disappointing end to a winless tour.

BOWLED'EM? Or is it? Uh..oh! Brydon Carse almost had the last laugh, but he has overstepped again. This is a good yorker, on middle. Rovman Powell backs away to carve it away, but is late to put his bat down as the ball goes under his bat to rattle the stumps. As soon as he starts to walk back, the umpire calls him back as this is a No Ball. Disappointment for Carse, but another Free Hit is coming up.

However, this is also a great opportunity for the middle order to show their qualities with the T20 World Cup next year.
