However, a late-innings collapse triggered by Ajmal Shahzad and Stuart Meaker, who shared seven wickets between them, prevented the Men in Maroon from finishing with a flourish. Despite the hiccup, the total proved more than enough, as the West Indies bowlers ensured the England Champions never got going. With this win, the West Indies Champions secured vital points, while England Champions remain winless and under pressure to bounce back.
The West Indies Champions registered a convincing victory, thanks to a sensational spell from Fidel Edwards, who ripped through the England Champions’ batting lineup with figures of 4 for 11. His fiery opening burst left the opposition reeling and set the tone for a comprehensive win. Shannon Gabriel, Dwayne Bravo, and Sulieman Benn also chipped in with wickets to ensure there was no way back for the England side.
The West Indies Champions have clinched their first victory of the tournament with a spirited defense of their total of 164. Chasing 165, the England Champions stumbled early, collapsing to 19 for 4 within the first five overs. Ravi Bopara (24) and Samit Patel (52) fought back with determined innings, attempting to steady the chase. However, both were dismissed at crucial moments, allowing the pressure to build once again.
