Australia vs New Zealand, 2nd ODI Highlights: Australia Thrash New Zealand By 113 Runs, Take Unassailable 2-0 Lead

We are moments away from the beginning of the second inning. The Australian players have made their way out to the field and are taking their positions. Martin Guptill and Devon Conway are the openers for New Zealand and will be looking to get off to a decent start. Mitchell Starc has been handed the new ball and he will begin proceedings. Right then, the visitors will be absolutely thrilled with their effort on the field and will look to their batters to guide them to a series-leveling win. They will know that they possess the batting to make this chase look easy but will try and preserve their wickets up the order. Australia will look to get a similar purchase off the wicket and try to get early breakthroughs. They will need to come out with self-belief and back their bowlers on the field. Matt Henry is up for a chat and he says that they did a good job and are happy with the overall bowling effort. Mentions that they wanted to take early wickets as Australia have a strong batting line-up and they are happy with the bowling performance.

Australia got off to another poor start losing their out-of-form captain Aaron Finch on a second-ball duck. David Warner played a few shots but departed soon after and was closely followed by Marnus Labuschagne and Marcus Stoinis back in the shed. Steven Smith seemed like the only batter not troubled in these conditions but because of the lack of support from the other end, he had to anchor the innings. He put on a 49-run partnership with Glenn Maxwell that helped push the score beyond the 100-run mark. Australia lost wickets in a bundle once again and both set batters departed along with Sean Abbott. Steven Smith made 61 but took 94 deliveries to get there. The 31-run partnership between Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa initially followed by a 47-run unbeaten partnership between the former and Josh Hazlewood pushed the hosts close to the 200-run mark.

New Zealand won a good toss and were right at the throats of their opponents from the word go. Matt Henry and Trent Boult started wonderfully and bowled 6-over opening spells taking two wickets each. They controlled the middle overs with spin from one end and Mitchell Santner was rewarded with a wicket of his own. They were unable to take wickets for a short while thereafter, but the reintroduction of pace from both ends slowed the scoring rate even further. They began chipping away with wickets once again as the Aussies looked to accelerate and eventually restricted their opponents to an under-par score. Kane Williamson chose to use his front-line bowlers early leaving the part-time bowlers towards the end. They would have hoped to wipe out the tail sooner and only time will tell if the extra runs towards the end will cost them. Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 wickets for 38 runs in his full quota of 10 overs and was ably supported by Matt Henry who chipped in with three wickets of his own.

Australia have put up quite a resistance towards the end and have successfully played out the 50 overs! They have posted 195 runs on the board courtesy of their tail-enders but will feel they are well short of a reasonable target. The Black Caps did not end well but have come back strongly in this game after suffering defeat in the previous encounter. They will be silently confident of achieving the target and squaring up the series. The hosts will be disappointed with their batting effort as a whole and will need to come out with the intent to take early wickets if they are to stand a chance in this game.

So just a single to end the innings! This is a full delivery on off. Starc gets across and paddles it towards short fine leg. They cross for a single and Australia end with 195/9 after 50 overs!

He misses and Neesham fails to collect it. The ball goes towards mid on and the batters take another run as the thow from mid on is towards the striker's end this time. Latham collects the throw and whips the bails off. However, Starc is well inside the crease there. Two taken.

A full toss on middle. Around the waist height and Josh Hazlewood manages to hit it left of the bowler for a single.

Goes fuller on off. Starc drills it to long off for a single.

SIX! That's in the arc and Starc launches it over the mid-wicket fence. A fullish delivery on off. In the slot and Starc hammers it over deep mid-wicket for a biggie.

Tad shorter and around off. Starc cuts it to the cover fielder.

Michael Bracewell continues bowling full and Mitchell Starc taps this towards mid-wicket. He takes a single to keep strike for the last over.

Goes full this time and straight, Josh Hazlewood clips the ball towards deep mid-wicket and takes another single.

This is short as well and in line with the stumps, Mitchell Starc pulls the ball towards deep mid-wicket for a single.

Pulls his length back and bowls this short angling into the pads, Josh Hazlewood tucks this towards the vacant fine leg region and they pick up three runs. Josh Hazlewood was not sure about the third run and in the end puts in a dive to make his ground. Three taken.
