Lleyton Hewitt was supported by his home crowd and every point won, won him loud cheers. It was a stiff fight against Milos Raonic but despite losing the opening set, Hewitt managed to win the next three to advance. He now faces Djokovic.

Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic won her match against Russia's Maria Kirilenko. She hardly gave anything away as she sealed the match 6-0, 6-1.

Indians were a happy bunch at the Rod Laver Arena too. Rohan Bopanna and Mahesh Bhupathi won their match while even Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina overcame a fighting Eva Birnerova and Alberta Brianti 7-5 7-5.
