Asian Games: Sania-Myneni, Seema Punia Bag Gold in Tennis, Discus

Tennis star Sania Mirza teamed up with Saketh Myneni to clinch the gold in mixed doubles, while Seema Punia also brought glory with her gold-winning act as India maintained the ninth position in the overall standings on the 10th day of competitions in the 17th Asian Games.

Seema Punia bagged gold in discus throw. She threw the disc to 61.03 metres in her fourth attempt to get the better of her Chinese rivals, who finished second and third, respectively.

Seema Punia has been in good form this year. The 31-year-old from Haryana, had won the Commonwealth Games silver in Glasgow with an effort of 61.61. This has been her maiden Asian Games medal.

Seema's gold-winning effort in Incheon has not been her best career effort. Her best at the senior level came at the 2012 London Olympics where she hurled the disc to a distance of 61.91 metres. She has finished a poor 13th. She did well in Glasgow but missed the gold.
