West Indies 'Champions' Make Donation to Mother Teresa's Charity

West Indies defeated England by four wickets in an emotional World T20 final at the Eden Gardens. Driven by Marlon Samuels' 85 and four sixes in the last over from Carlos Brathwaite, West Indies became the first team to win the World T20 twice. Following their magnificent exploits, Darren Sammy's 'Champions' did a noble thing and showed that they are champions off the field as well. On Monday, the West Indies made a donation to Mother Teresa's 'Missionaries of Charity'. The official Twitter handle of the West Indies team, @westindies, tweeted about the event.

It has been an emotional journey to the title for the West Indies team. At the start, contract disputes with the board, combined with lack of support, was threatening their participation in the World T20.

After the end of the final, Sammy, in the post-match interview said, "The ability to put all those adversity aside and to come out and play this type of cricket in front of such passionate fans... it's just tremendous."

West Indies had a new manager in Rawl Lewis, the former West Indies legspinner who played in 1997. Sammy had described, "We had a new manager in this tournament in Rawl Lewis, who has never managed any team before. He came here. We had a camp in Dubai. We had no uniforms. No printing. He left Dubai, went to Kolkata.. that's where we started. The trouble he went through to get us in this uniform.. I got to give credit to the entire team here. It was us in our own little circle. We dedicate this win to all the fans in the Caribbean."

With this latest event, the men from the Caribbean are indeed Champions for the cricketing world.
