The T20 World Cup 2024 is just round the corner and questions still remain on the best opening partnership for the Indian cricket team. While Rohit Sharma has already been confirmed as the captain for the competition, the position of his opening partner has resulted in a lot of debate among both fans and experts. While Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the top contenders for the position, Virat Kohli has emerged as a surprising choice. The star batter has been criticised a bit for his strike rate and few experts believed that using him as an opener can allow him to play his natural game in the competition.
Recently, Gill opened up about his chances for the T20 World Cup.
"I played the 50 overs World Cup last year and it was a dream for me to represent my country in a World Cup. If I am able to make it to this year's T20 World Cup, it would be nothing short of a dream coming true. Last year's World Cup experience would help me as we try to win the World Cup," he said in an interview with Hindustan Times.
