Now the target is a big one. The wicket is a touch slow but not a bad one to bat on. India do have the potential to chase this down. Also, in 2001, Tendulkar and Ganguly had scored twin hundreds for India against South Africa but South Africa managed to chase the total. Rassie van der Dussen is in for a chat. He says, he feels really good. Their aim was to take the partnership going and Bavuma played a good anchoring innings which allowed him to play his innings. The Indian bowling was excellent for the first 20 overs. The new ball bowlers got it moving earlier on and caused issues and then the spinners got it to turn which caused problems. Post that though, they found it quite tough to contain the run flow. Thakur and Chahal did not have the best of days. Bumrah and Ashwin though were impressive but Rahul will be disappointed they could not capitalise on the advantage they had.

The start though wasn't the best. They lost three just for the score of 68 and then, even run-scoring seemed difficult. However, then came the stand which turned the tide completely in South Africa's favour. It was a mammoth 200-run partnership between Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma with both scoring tons. They counter-attacked and did so brilliantly. They did slow down though as they were nearing their tons or 300 looked on the cards but South Africa have a really good total on the board.

That is some recovery from the hosts! Let me remind you, the average first innings score here is around the 220-run mark and South Africa have finished around 80 runs above that so really don't need to mention who the happier of the two sides will be. Had they been given this score at the toss, they would have surely taken it.
