Lot Of Questions To Be Answered
Despite all the build up around Venkatesh Iyer's bowling, the youngster did not bowl a single over in the first ODI. If he had to play as batter then wasn't Suryakumar Yadav a better option? What is India going to do with their under-performing middle-order? Will it be a good option to try someone like a Ruturaj Gaikwad or Pant at the top with Shikhar Dhawan and bat KL Rahul at No.4 to provide more depth in the batting unit? The bowling attack too does not seem settled. Yuzvendra Chahal badly needs to strike in the middle overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has reached the twilight of his career and is not the same force with the new ball he once used to be.
India's middle-order once again failed to provide the goods as the visitors lost the first ODI despite a big partnership for the second-wicket between Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. Once Dhawan and Kohli were dismissed in quick succession, wickets fell in a heap as the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer disappointed with the bat.
Shamsi to Kohli, OUT!! Good catch by Bavuma and once again Kohli failed to score big after a half-century. All eyes will be on India's young middle-order.
Fifty comes up for Virat Kohli and he's going strong in the chase of 297. The ex-captain has shown great technique so far and he's eyeing for a big score today.
Hundred runs on board for India, Virat Kohli is also picking up the pace in his innings and Dhawan is eyeing a century to seal his place in the Indian lineup.
Fifty for Shikhar Dhawan!! What a great comeback for the opener in international cricket. He needs more runs to seal his spot in the Indian playing XI.
Markram to Rahul, OUT!! caught behind!! Excellent delivery from Markram and who would have imagined that he's gonna take the first wicket while defending 297 against a top-quality Indian batting order.
Jansen to Dhawan, FOUR to the leg side. He's going strong so far and impressing with his periodical boundaries. India are off to a good start in the chase of 297.
250 runs on the board for South Africa and the two batters are still unbeaten. Bavuma has completed his 100 while Rassie van der Dussen is just 3 runs away from his century.
200 runs on the board for South Africa and the partnership is 130 now. South Africa still have 12 overs left in their hand and they will look to reach close to 300.
Bumrah to van der Dussen, Oh what a shot!! upper cut and its a boundary!! South Africa are now close to 200 and still they have more than 13 over to go.
100 Partnership Between Bavuma And van der Dussen!
100 partnership between the Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma. The duo have batted really well so far and they have set a good tone in series opener.
