Alamian takes the fifth and deciding game 11-2, and seals IR Iran's victory over India in their first Group F match in the men's team table tennis event at the Asian Games 2026.

Nima Alamian wins the third game 11-3, but then Harmeet Desai fights back to take the fourth game 12-10. We're going down to the final game to decide the match. Harmeet must win to keep India alive in the contest. If Alamian wins, Iran win the match and the contest.

Harmeet Desai wins a hard-fought second game and makes it 1-1 in the third match against Iran's Nima Alamian. He wins the second game 15-13. That's India first game win of the whole contest.

Much like Alamiyan against Manush, Benyamin Faraji completes a straight-game win over Manav Thakkar, sending Iran 2-0 up in the men's team table tennis contest. Faraji wins 11-2, 11-6, 12-10.

India must win three remaining matches against Iran to win the overall tie.

Onto the second match of the India-Iran table tennis tie, and it is still Iran who are on top. Iran's Benyamin Faraji wins the first game against India's Manav Thakkar, 11-2.

And make that 2-0 to Iran in the second match. Faraji wins the second game 11-6. 

Manush Shah loses the third game and the first match of the contest to Iran's Noshad Alamiyan. Once again, he squanders the lead. Shah had game point at 10-9, but Alamiyan roared back to win the third game 12-10.

Alamiyan wins the first match 11-3, 11-8, 12-10.

Manush Shah loses the second game as well, meaning he goes down 2-0 in the best of five match. He was leading 6-4, but a great comeback from Alamiyan sees the Iranian win 11-8.

India's men's table tennis team will be in action shortly as Manav Thakkar, Harmeet Desai, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Manush Shah and Payas Jain take on Iran in their Group F tie.

Meanwhile, the women's team contest against Singapore is going right down to the wire. With the tie locked at 2-2, the outcome now hinges on the final match, where Yashasvini Ghorpade is battling Loy Ming.

India's Rishabh Das finished sixth in the men's 100m backstroke final, clocking 54.77 seconds in a spirited effort at the Asian Games. The Indian swimmer stayed competitive against a strong field but ultimately fell short of the medals, with swimmers from China, Japan and South Korea occupying the podium positions.

Up next for India: Rishabh Das in the men's 100m backstroke final. He qualified for the medal event after finishing fifth in the heats and will be aiming for a place on the podium.

India's hopes of topping the women's team Group F tie against Singapore are hanging by a thread after Diya Chitale lost her match, handing the opponents a 2-1 lead.

India's Diya Chitale is fighting to stay alive in the third match of the women's team Group F tie against Singapore. Chitale dropped the opening two games to Tan Zhao and was staring at a straight-games defeat, but has responded strongly in the third game, racing to a 7-2 lead.

India's Sreeja Akula went down to Singapore's Loy Ming in the second match of the women's team Group F tie. The contest went the distance after Sreeja fought back to win the fourth game 11-4, forcing a decider. However, Ming held her nerve in the final game, winning 11-6 to level the tie at 1-1 with three matches still to be played.

Diya Chitale will be up next for India as she looks to restore the team's lead. She will take on Zhao Tan in the third match of the tie.

India's Sreeja Akula has a mountain to climb as she trails Singapore's Loy Ming 1-3 in their women's team Group F clash. India, however, remain in control of the tie at 1-0, thanks to Yashaswini Ghorpade's impressive 3-1 victory over Zeng Jian in the opening match.

India beat Bangladesh by 114 runs and enter the final of the women's cricket event. They will now fight for gold against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

That's that from hockey where the Indian men's hockey team has registered a statement win by beating Indonesia 13-1 in their opening Pool A match.

"Varun Sanyal suffered from generalized cramps and body ache while in the sauna last evening in his cruise accommodation. He underwent a medical examination and precautionary blood tests, which were normal. Despite rest, the following morning, he felt not fully fit to participate in a combat sport. After consultation with his coach, he withdrew on medical grounds," a statement by IOA read.

Tanvi Sharma with an easy victory too as India thrash Kazakhstan 3-0 in the opening round of women's team badminton. 

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter Varun Sanyal on Sunday passed out while having sauna on a cruise ship here and was taken to hospital, but he is out of trouble now according to an official. Sanyal, son of Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council member Sanjiv Sanyal, was trying to cut his weight for Sunday's competition.

"Fortunately, he was found in that state by an athlete from Nepal who woke him up. Varun was able to call me and we took him to hospital.

"There was not much to be worried about, so he was brought back to the cruise around 3:00am. He is now stable and out of trouble,” MMA Sports Federation of India president Nikhil Kundera told PTI.

India's Sonam Maskar has bowed out in the Women's 10m Air Rifle final. She finished 6th with a final score of 167.0. Elavenil is still top with a whopping lead of 1.5 points.

Elavenil surges up the order with a brilliant 10.6 followed by a perfect 10.9, while Sonam delivered a strong 21.3 across her two shots. At the bottom of the standings, Kwon Yuna and Han Jiayu were locked in a shoot-off for survival; Kwon managed a 10.1 against the Chinese shooter's 10.7, bowing out of the competition.

Elavenil posted a 52.9, while Chinese superstars Wang Zifei and Han Jiayu currently sit fourth and fifth in a surprising turn of events. Meanwhile, Sonam delivered another solid 52.1, leaving her tied for position with Jiayu.

India are cruising towards clinching their first gold medal of the 2026 Asian Games 2026. Elavenil in the lead of 0.7 over Misaki Nobota of Japan. 

Manush Shah gives India the third win in men's team table tennis clash against Indonesia to wrap-up a comfortable win. He defeated Affan Pratama 11-9, 11-9, 12-10 as India begin their campaign off to a winning start.

India get first Asian Games 2026 medal guarantee as Suchika Tariyal enters women’s 60kg traditional MMA semi-final.

Elavenil is on a roll in her individual 10m air rifle qualification. She not only seems in pole position to qualify for the final, but her incredible show is also expected to earn India their first medal in the 2026 edition of the Asian Games 2026. 

India's MMA campaign begins in the Asian Games 2026 with Suchika Tariyal in the women's traditional 60kg quarter-final. She is up against Mangolia's Baigalmaa Altanchimeg. A win here guarantees India a medal.

Elavenil Velarivan's individual qualification round has begun. While she has one eye on a spot in the women's 10m rifle final, her score would also determine where India finishes in the women's team final. Fingers crossed!

A solid performance saw Rishabh finish fifth overall in the heats with a time of 54.85 seconds, finishing 0.63 seconds behind second-placed Hidekazu Takehara. Frontrunner and Asian record holder Xu Jiayu of China led the pack, finishing over two seconds ahead of Rishabh.

Fellow Indian swimmer Utkarsh Patil finished 12th overall in the qualification standings. The final will be tomorrow afternoon, at 2:08 pm IST.

Second setback for India in Teqball as the pair of Quimcy Dsouza-Mohamed Anas Imran Beg loses the second set too. Quimcy's injury did play a role but India were no match against the pair from Vietnam.

It's not going India's way in Teqball at all. The mixed-doubles pair go down 5-9 in the second set and India are forced to take a medical time-out because of an injury Quimcy has sustained on her back.

India's men's hockey team is now taking on Uzbekistan in the Women's Pool B match. This is the first-ever meeting between India and Uzbekistan in Women’s hockey. 

Meanwhile, India’s Benedicton Beniston and Akash Mani are placed 5th and 7th, respectively, in the Men’s 100m Freestyle Heat 5. Beniston finished 12th overall, and Mani 23rd. None of the two will be a part of the final which is scheduled to be held later today.

India's bronze medal hopes in the Teqball mixed doubles event seem to be fading away. Quimcy and Anas have lost the first set 9-12. They need a comeback in this set, or else an empty-handed return is on the cards. 

Sonam Maskar wraps up her qualification round with an impressive score of 634.1, putting her in prime position to advance to the individual final. However, it has proved to be a tough outing for Vidarsa, who finished 9th overall with a total score of 630.4.

In the team event, India and Japan are currently sharing third place on 1264.5 points. The battle for the team medal will now hinge on veteran Elavenil Valarivan when her qualification relay gets underway at 8:15 am.

Minutes after her defeat in the women's singles event, Quimcy Dsouza returns to the table alongside Mohamed Anas Beg to battle for mixed doubles bronze. Having earned their place in the medal match through the repechage rounds, the Indian duo face Vietnam's Nguyen Hoang Minh Tan and Trinh Gia Nghi as they aim to capitalise on their second chance at a podium finish.

Sonam Maskar finds herself between the Chinese duo in the standings, though leader Fan Zifei continues to set a relentless pace ahead of the field. Fan turned in a dominant back-to-back series of 106.0 and 106.9, while Sonam stayed firmly in pursuit with a strong 106.6 in her third series. Meanwhile, Vinod is placed 7th in the standings at present.

In about 15 minutes from now, we'll have a mixed martial arts event underway, featuring India's Suchika Tariyal and Mangolia's Altanchimeg Baigalmaa in the Women's Traditional 60kg Quarterfinal.

In a tightly contested Women's Singles Bronze medal match in Teqball, India's Quimcy Dsouza has lost the opening set to Japan's Yuina Sakamoto 11-12.

Competing in the men's Changquan event, Suraj Singh finished 11th overall with a total score of 9.683. His performance was anchored by top marks in two categories, earning a perfect 5.000 in Group A for degree of difficulty and a flawless 2.000 in Group C for innovation and extra performance, alongside a score of 2.683 in Group B for overall execution.

The Indian team consisting of Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, Vidarsa Vinod are placed second at the moment, with China in the No. 1 spot.

India's Mayanglambam Suraj Singh is placed 8th in the standings in the men's Changquan Final. A few performances are yet to be completed.

As the entire India keeps its fingers crossed for a medal in Wushu, here's a look at what the sport is:

Rooted in thousands of years of tradition dating back to China's Qin Dynasty, Wushu, frequently referred to as Kung-fu, encompasses a vast collection of traditional Chinese martial arts. In the modern era, the sport has evolved into two primary disciplines: sanda, which features full-contact fighting, and taolu, which focuses on intricate, choreographed performance routines. Within this structured framework, Changquan (or Long Fist) serves as one of the prominent styles practiced under the taolu umbrella.

While recovering from an injury, Quimcy happened to watch Brazilian great Ronaldinho playing teqball on Instagram. She gave it a try and, in her words, "from day one I fell in love with the sport."

There was even something about the sport's identity that felt personal. "I've not mentioned it to anyone, but teqball's logo, the 'Q', is what I feel is Quimcy, so I feel this sport is for me," she said with a smile.
