About Yoyogi National Stadium

Having been used for the aquatics and basketball competitions for the 1964 Tokyo Games, the Yoyogi National Stadium is known for its suspension roof design and reputation in the international sports community.

Located at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, the venue was designed by Kenzo Tange, and it was also built between 1961 ad 1964. It is also worth noting that the Yoyogi National Stadium is known to have inspired Frei Otto, for his designs of the Olympic Stadium in Munich.

For the upcoming Olympics, the arena will be hosting handball, para-badminton and wheelchair rugby.
