... THE RUN CHASE ...

Hyderabad, on the other hand, will be a bit disappointed with their bowling effort. The intensity in the field was missing in such a key game and they let the opposition take control from the start. Their bowlers struggled to create many opportunities and leaked runs as well. T Natarajan picked up a couple of wickets while Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Pat Cummins chipped in with one each. After not able to contain the batters in the middle overs, the hosts pulled things back a bit in the last few overs but the spell of Nitish Kumar Reddy shifted the momentum once again towards the visitors. Now, it is up to their batters to take up this challenge and once again the opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma will be the key in this chase. Join us in a bit for the second essay.

Atharva Taide is up for a quick chat. He states that the ball is coming onto the bat really well, allowing them to set a good score. He admits to feeling nervous at the start of the innings but gained confidence as he adjusted to the ball. Taide believes they have posted a strong total, reflecting the positive mindset in the dressing room. He emphasizes the importance of taking wickets inside the Powerplay to gain the upper hand. Noting that the pitch is gripping a bit, he asserts that with good intent on the field, they can secure the victory.

Punjab got off to a steady start with both openers taking their time for a few overs, but once they got going, they never looked back. Atharva Taide and Prabhsimran Singh started to score runs freely without taking much risks and added 97 runs for the first wicket before Taide was dismissed just missing out on his half-century. His opening partner continued to attack and notched up his fifty with Rilee Rossouw also firing from the other end. These two also scored more than 50 runs together but the opener lost his wicket in an unfortunate way. The South African departed on 49 and after that, they lost a bit of momentum. However, their skipper for this game, Jitesh Sharma smashed 32 off just 15 balls to take them to a huge total.

Punjab finishes with a flurry! Their skipper, Jitesh Sharma provides good momentum that they can take into their bowling innings. They have posted a big total on the board and it will be a stern challenge for the hosts to chase it down. Hyderabad has not been able to chase anything beyond 200 this season, but if they want to remain in the fight for second place, they have to do it now.
