2nd Test, Day 3: New Zealand fight, India with noses in-front

India fell short of New Zealand's first innings total of 365 by 12 runs. Virat Kohli and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni though, completed a century and fifty respectively. For New Zealand, skipper Ross Taylor again tried to lead the way with a solid 35, while Franklin made 41. It was Ashwin who got the wickets for India.

On a topsy-turvy Day 3 of the second Test match at Bangalore, both teams shared honours, although India have their noses ahead after R Ashwin's five-for. Guptill could not manage a decent start as in the first innings. This time he only managed 7 and was bowled by Umesh Yadav. Brendon McCullum got 23 off 21 before Yadav removed him too.

Skipper Ross Taylor led from the front in New Zealand's first innings and started on a promising note in the second too till his favourite shot the slog sweep did him in. He was out Lbw to Pragyan Ojha.

Wicket-keeper and first innings mainstay along with Taylor, Kruger van Wyk, looked threatening for a while. Umesh Yadav then rattled him with a few bouncers and balls into the rib-cage. He was eventually trapped in-front by Ashwin on 31.

It was all India thereafter as Ashwin got stuck into the New Zealand middle and lower-middle order to grab a five-wicket hall. This helped the Men in Blue to restrict the Black Caps, who once looked to set a target around 300. Eventually they finished the day 244 runs ahead and a wicket in hand.
