Glenn Phillips took advantage of the conditions on offer and dismissed Ravindra Jadeja to bring New Zealand back in the game. Ajaz Patel then removed Sarfaraz Khan and Gill. In the first session, Rishabh Pant fell for 60 runs off 59 balls. He, alongwith Shubman Gill, stitched a solid 96-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
