Pragyan Ojha became the third quickest Indian bowler to 100 wickets in Test matches with Pattinson's scalp while R Ashwin completed his 9th five-wicket haul in Tests. Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay impressed with the bat yet again but Nathan Lyon ensured Australia remained in contention.

Sachin Tendulkar came in to a great round of applause as always but never looked comfortable on the crease from the beginning, especially to the impressive Lyon. He survived a huge lbw appeal off the same bowler (It definitely was out), he skipped, hopped and jumped at the crease and finally was removed by Lyon lbw. Indian batting looked fragile, for once.
