Maken, who has been involved with meetings that took place between rival hockey bodies - Hockey India and Indian Hockey Federation - said that the decision made by FIH had left him disappointed. "I'm sad that India will not get to host it, big loss for hockey and sports," he said.
Maken however was hopeful that Olympic qualifiers can be held in India. "I'm keen that Olympic qualifiers at least happen in India. Though Champions Trophy doesn't have any direct effect on Olympic qualification, it would have been good exposure and good for the sport in India," he said adding that attempts will be made to resolve the issue with both bodies present in a meeting with FIH scheduled for September 13.
Champions Trophy will kick off from December 3.
