FINAL ANALYSIS
The second half was absolutely insane. All four goals came in the final 45 minutes of play and each was more entertaining than the last. The Benzema goal was bizarre, the second Bale goal was shocking, and the first Bale goal was simply sublime. Loris Karius' errors in the second half were indeed glaring, but it seems as though Real Madrid were destined to win this game, by talent or by freak accident. Either way, Los Blancos will hoist the 2017-18 trophy and not Liverpool.

FINAL
Real Madrid have done it! They have won the Champions League three years in a row after they defeat Liverpool today by the score of 3-1.
90'
FAN ON THE FIELD
A fan charges onto the field just as Cristiano Ronaldo enters the penalty area on a counter attack. Truly silly stuff here.
90'
SCRAMBLE
A mad scramble following a Liverpool free kick in the attacking half leads to the ball falling to an unmarked Adam Lallana at the top of the box. Lallana attempts to cut the lead in half with a low drive, however several Real Madrid players close the gap to block the shot and swing it away from danger.
89'
Substitution
Marco Asensio (on). Karim Benzema (off). (Real Madrid)
89'
BENZEMA OFF
Karim Benzema has been removed for Marco Asensio. Benzema receives the round of applause that he is due after his performance tonight.
9'
FIRMINO SHOT
Trent Alexander-Arnold swings in a powerfully hit cross from the left sideline and is able to find an open Roberto Firmino on the near post. The Brazilian attempts a headed effort on goal, but his angles are misjudged and his resulting shot goes well high and wide.
85'
KARIUS OG?
Gareth Bale rifles a shot from long range with his left foot that seemed to be an easy enough save for the keeper Loris Karius, but something went horribly wrong. The ball may have taken a drastic swerve that the goalie was not expecting, but either way Karius weakly parried the attempt into the back of his own net. It will likely go down as a normal goal, but the only reason this found the back of the net was due to shockingly terrible goalkeeping.
84'
GOAL
GOAL! Real Madrid have scored again and now lead 3-1!

BALE PASS, BENZEMA VOLLEY
Gareth Bale skillfully places an outswinging cross into the path of an open Karim Benzema on the far post that sets the striker up perfectly! Karim Benzema volleys the pass with his right on a short hop and places it in the center of goal. Loris Karius parries it away, though, easily.
79'
MADRID DEFENSE
Liverpool are beginning to find the ball at their feet more often in the last several minutes of play, but they have failed to do anything truly noteworthy with it. Their main plan of attack is clearly to force the ball down the wings and hammer crosses into the area. Thus far, Real Madrid have been up to the task as they have pulled 7 of their 10 outfield players into the box.
74'
MADRID DENIED AGAIN
A counter attack nearly just placed Real Madrid in front by two! Cristiano Ronaldo was seemingly played in alone, however Andy Robertson shockingly is able to track Ronaldo down and make an incredible diving block that denied Los Blancos of their third goal of the night.
71'
MANE POST
Sadio Mane blazes a low drive from just outside the box that finds its way through several sets of legs in front of net. The attempt flies as straight as an arrow and beats Navas to the left, but it bangs off the far post, bounces back into play, only to be cleared out by Gareth Bale.
69'
LIVERPOOL TRYING TO PUSH
Liverpool are trying to regain some, if any, momentum in this Champions League final with just over 20 minutes remaining. The most recent attack came as a long bar over the top nearly picked out Sadio Mane's streaking run into the area, but a composed Sergio Ramos was able to intervene and clear the ball out of play.
65'
GARETH BALE
Marcelo lofted a cross from the left flank that was clearly misplaced, however that did not matter to Gareth Bale. The Welshman leapt up into the air with his back to goal and perfectly timed a flying bicycle kick with his left foot. Simply hitting the ball was astounding, what was even more incredible was the fact that the shot nestled perfectly into the upper left corner as a helpless Loris Karius watched on in horror. Los Blancos reclaim the lead at 2-1!
64'
Goal
Gareth Bale. Assist by Marcelo (Real Madrid)
64'
GOAL
Gareth Bale has just scored a superb goal just minutes after stepping onto the field! Real now lead 2-1!
7'
MANE CHARGE
Roberto Firmino plays a delicate left footed through ball from the center of the midfield that nearly connects with the speedy Sadio Mane just outside the area! Once again the ball is cleared away by Raphael Varane, however the Reds are beginning to expose cracks in the Blancos formation.
62'
BALE ON
Gareth Bale enters the match for Real Madrid and replaces Isco. Los Blancos will now be utilizing a 4-3-3 formation one would anticipate with the addition of this speedy Wales international.
61'
Substitution
Gareth Bale (on). Isco (off). (Real Madrid)
61'
NACHO
Nacho drives a cross in from the right wing that miraculously finds an awaiting Isco at the near post! Isco turns and pushes a right footed effort toward goal, but Loris Karius is there to make a diving save that grants Real Madrid another corner kick.
56'
GOAL! MANE!
James Milner delivered a picture perfect cross to the back post that is met by the leaping Dejan Lovren who immediately heads the ball across the face of net. The pass is well placed and sends Sadio Mane in alone and he makes no mistake. Mane deftly redirects the ball into the left side of an open net to knot this game at 1-1!
55'
Goal
Sadio Mane. Assist by Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)
55'
ALL SQUARE
GOAL! Liverpool have found the equalizer just four minutes after Real Madrid took the lead!
52'
BENZEMA GOAL
This might be one of the most improbable and bizarre goals ever scored in the history of the Champions League Final! Loris Karius charged off his line to collect an errant pass from the midfield played by Toni Kroos. Karim Benzema lurks just outside the area and sticks out his foot and is able to block the keeper's ensuing throw which sends the ball slowly rolling into the Liverpool goal! The play stands, Madrid are up 1-0!
51'

GOAL
GOAL! Real Madrid have snatched the lead early in the second half!
43'
NO GOAL
Real appeared to have grabbed the lead just before the half after Karim Benzema deposited a rebound from a Ronaldo shot into the back of the net. The linesman's flag immediately shot up into the Kiev night sky to indicate that Benzema was offside when the initial shot occurred, and it seems as though the Portuguese international was also offside when the pass was played to him.
41'
RONALDO ATTACK
In a rare spell of time with the ball on his foot, Cristiano Ronaldo leads a quickly building counter attack down the left wing. Ronaldo notices his trailing runners in the center of the pitch and attempts to link up with them, but his pass is well mistimed and is easily cleared away by Liverpool.
39'
MODRIC BLOCKED
Luka Modric sprints down the right side of the area seeking to send in a cross, but by the time he does so his pass is met by the lengthy legs of Virgil Van Dijk. Van Dijk's block is massive, but sends the ball out for Real Madrid's first corner of the night.
37'
Substitution
Nacho (on). Dani Carvajal (off). (Real Madrid)
35'
CARAVAJAL DOWN
Now Dani Carvajal is down and in tears. Caravajal returned from a hamstring injury over just a week ago and it seems that he has possibly re-aggravated it. My word, what a sight. Two world class players having to be removed in the first half due to injuries.
33'
BENZEMA BLOCKED
Marcelo drills a low cross into the box that ricochets off the shin of Cristiano Ronaldo and bounces to an awaiting Karim Benzema! Benzema turns and attempt to find the back of the net with his right foot, however Dejan Lovren is in the right place at the right time and makes a key block to deny the striker.
31'
Substitution
Adam Lallana (on). Mohamed Salah (off). (Liverpool)
48'
ISCO WOODWORK
Isco pounces on a terrible giveaway by the Liverpool and thrashes a right footed volley! The shot is well taken and appears destined for the back of the net, however Loris Karius' best friend the crossbar comes up huge as the shot deflects off the woodwork and back into play.
46'
SECOND HALF
The whistle blows and we have returned to action in Kiev! The teams have switched ends and now it will be Liverpool that attack from right to left. No further changes were made at the break as both teams were already forced to use an early substitution.
45'
HALF ANALYSIS
Aside from the devastating injury to Mohamed Salah that forced his removal from the match, the Reds and Jurgen Klopp will be extremely pleased by their performance. For a large majority of the first half they were evidently the better team resulting in several huge chances that they just could not capitalize on. They have also been able to keep the ever dangerous Cristiano Ronaldo out of this game for the most part as the striker has had relatively few touches inside the final third. Los Blancos did end the half on the front foot as they had a few decent opportunities, but moving forward they must find a way to incorporate Ronaldo more into their attacking plans.
45'
HALFTIME
Milorad Mazic blows his whistle to bring this action packed first half to an end! We head to the break at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium with Real Madrid and Liverpool scoreless.
45'
CORNER
Toni Kroos delivers Real Madrid's second corner kick of the night from the left flag, but his cross is poorly placed at the near post and is quite easily headed away and out of play by Andy Robertson.
5'
FREE KICK
Free kick to Liverpool in a dangerous area as Marcelo cuts down Mohamed Salah just outside the box on the right wing! It is now Salah and James Milner that stand over the impending set piece.
30'
OFF
That is it for Salah! Jurgen Klopp is forced to make his first substitution of the match in the first half due to injury. He brings on Adam Lallana in place of the Egyptian international.
29'
SALAH OFF?
Oh no! Mohamed Salah re-entered the game a few moments ago, but is now back down on the pitch with tears in his eyes. It seems as if he will have to come out of the Champions League Final! What a terrible sight.
26'
SALAH DOWN
After a rough fall following a tackle performed by Sergio Ramos, Mohamed Salah is down and appears to have injured his shoulder. It is unclear if it will force the Egyptian to exit, but let us hope that he can continue on tonight.
24'
SAVE
A dangerous spell of possession in the area for Liverpool leads to an amazing chance for Trent Alexander-Arnold on the far post! The right back collected the loose ball following a blocked shot and sizzled a shot through a tangle of legs. The attempt ultimately reached the keeper Keylor Navas who makes a key save to deny Liverpool of a first half league.
22'
FIRMINO HEADED PASS
A lofted ball over the top is placed perfectly into the attacking run of Roberto Firmino! A poor decision by Raphael Varane grants the striker an extra step to decide his next move. The ensuing headed pass to Mane is placed far too close to Keylor Navas who calmly claims possession.
19'
CORNER
Mohamed Salah sends in the first corner kick of the evening and picks out the flying Virgil Van Dijk on the far post! Van Dijk is unable to firmly hit the ball and unfortunately skies it over the bar, though he possibly heard Keylor Navas charging at him as the keeper nearly punched him squarely in the face.
16'
RONALDO BLAZES ONE
Isco threads a pass to the absent Cristiano Ronaldo that sends the superstar into the area down the right wing! Ronaldo hammers a right footed strike that blazes just over the cross bar. Clearly the Portuguese international was looking to beat Karius at the near post, but simply put too much on his attempt.
14'
FURIOUS ACTIVITY`
In an absolute action packed 20 seconds the attacking Liverpool are able to send three successive shots toward Keylor Navas' net, however a Real Madrid defender was able to block each and every one. The play finally was swung out of the area when a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross was firmly cleared by the fist of Navas.
11'
MARCELO MISS
Marcelo executes a killer spin move that leaves James Milner flat footed allowing the wingback to sprint toward the box unmarked! Marcelo then levels a ground burning shot from distance with his left, but pushes it well wide of the far post and out for a Liverpool goal kick.
2'
OFFSIDE
Dani Carvajal chips a ball over the back line looking to link up with a charging Isco! The ball falls into the midfielder's path just as Loris Karius comes off his line, but the whistle is blown immediately to indicate offside. This match is starting with a flurry of action!
1'
LIVERPOOL ATTACk
Liverpool get the action started early with a quick attack off the opening kickoff as Mohamed Salah tries to send Sadio Mane clear into the area! It is a well played ball, however Raphael Varane has impecable timing and positioning to make the decisive early clearance.
1'
KICKOFF
We are underway in Kiev! Real Madrid are in their standard all white kits and attack from right to left, while Liverpool are dressed in their namesake kits, all red. The officiating crew features the Serbians Milorad Mazic, Milovan Ristic, and Dalibor Djurdjevic, along with the fourth official Clement Turpin.

HISTORY
Liverpool and Real Madrid have faced off just five times in their storied histories. Their first meeting occurred in the 1981 European Cup Final that saw the Reds take home the silverware on the back of an 82nd minute goal scored by Alan Kennedy. The following two matches took place in first knockout round of the 2009 Champions League which ended in Liverpool moving on to the Quarterfinals by a 5-0 aggregate score. The final two matches, however, transpired in the group stages of the 2014-2015 Champions League and resulted in two Real Madrid victories by the total score of 4-0.

FORMATIONS
Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane appear to be utilizing a 4-3-1-2 formation with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema functioning as forwards, Isco operating in as an attacking midfielder, and Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Luka Modric directly behind the Spaniard. Liverpool, though, will trot out their standard 4-3-3 lineup with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah up top.

CINDERELLA STORY CONTINUES...?
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool faltered in the final two weeks of the campaign and were inevitably passed by Tottenham causing them to finish fourth in the Premier League. Liverpool's odds in the Champions League, on the other hand, have been quite surprising considering the fact that they began their run in the Playoff Round against Hoffenheim. The Reds went on to win their group on three wins and three draws over the likes of Sevilla, Spartak Moscow, and Maribor. They would then knock out Porto (5-0 aggregate), then shock Manchester City in the Quarterfinals (5-1 aggregate), and sneak by Roma in a two legged affair that consisted of 13 total goals (7-6 aggregate).

REAL x 3?
Real Madrid's La Liga season ended with far less of a flourish as most Los Blancos fans would have hoped for. The perennial powerhouse finished third in Spain, three points off their crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid and a whopping seventeen points behind their nemesis Barcelona, yet they enter today looking claim their third consecutive Champions League title. Real placed second in Group H behind Tottenham and have since gone on to eliminate three domestic league winners in France's Paris Saint-Germain (5-2 aggregate), Italy's champion Juventus (4-3 aggregate), and Germany's Bayern Munich (4-3 aggregate). Can Real Madrid complete the three-peat tonight to become the first team to do so since Bayern Munich in 1974, 1975, and 1976?
