First win of the season for JFC!
Jamshedpur FC have outclassed NorthEast United FC to earn their first win of the Hero ISL 2022-23 and in the process, they have handed NEUFC their fourth defeat of this season. JFC dominated the game in the first half and found the opening goal in the 31st minute when Peter Hartley found the bottom right corner with his little toe poke. The story remained the same in the second half as well, as Jamshedpur FC kept on attacking and spent most of their time in the NEUFC half. Although their search for the insurance goal remained unfulfilled, the JFC defense stood tall and never allowed any opening to NEUFC. That said, the attacking game of NorthEast United FC was quite disappointing however they upped the ante in the end moments and forced an acrobatic save from Rehenesh TP. With this win, JFC shoot up to number 6 on the table and will hope to launch a winning momentum from here.

Much better from NEUFC! Imran Khan has been a vital part of the NEUFC attack throughout the game so far. Once again, he is the one who finds some pace and tries to bother the opposition keeper. He has a go from distance, the ball bounces a couple of times before reaching the keeper. Rehenesh TP needed two attempts to grab the ball safely.

Wellington Cirino Priori takes the corner kick and sends in a loopy ball at the far post. Pratik Chaudhari gets a free header but he miscues his direction as it goes at the opposite end, almost from where it came. Need to do better with these chances.

A one-sided half!
JFC go into the break as the happier side. They have been the dominant team and have a slender lead of 1-0. NEUFC hardly created any chances. They lacked creativity in the final third and would hope to come back with a revived intent after the break. JFC had most of the ball and kept knocking at the door consistently. Then it was Peter Hartley, the skipper of JFC, who broke the deadlock in the 31st minute. Jamshedpur FC will be aiming to get the next goal and make things tougher for the opposition. Yet another throw-in to set up things. It's lobbed inside the box and the NEUFC defender gets a heavy touch. The ball rolls away from him and Ritwik Das tries to attack. He puts his laces through the ball but fails to keep it on target.

Farukh Choudhary tries to run forward with the ball but he runs into a wall of defenders and gets dispossessed. The clearance though is poor and Wellington Cirino Priori gets the chance to have a long-range shot. He shoots but it flies over the crossbar.

Jamshedpur FC survive and keep their lead. The move develops from a strong throw-in from Aaron Evans from the right side. He sends it flying near the first post, aiming to find Matt Derbyshire but he misses and Daniel Chukwu ends up flicking it behind. Rehenesh TP is beaten but to his good luck, Jithin M.S fails to get his head on it. A narrow escape.

JFC take the lead. They deserved a goal and have finally got one. It is the skipper, Peter Hartley who finds the back of the net. Wellington Cirino Priori whips in a delicious ball into the box from the corner kick. Harry Sawyer leaps the highest and heads it towards the goal. Peter Hartley near the back post deflects the loose ball and sends it past the keeper.

JFC continue to dominate the proceedings. NEUFC are kept on the back foot here most of the time. A loopy ball is played at the edge of the box and Harry Sawyer chests it down. He lays it off for Daniel Chukwu who has a shot from outside the box. Mirshad Michu does well and dives to his left to grab the ball.

NEUFC are growing into the game here. A few extra white shirts are pushing forward. Imran Khan has the ball on the left flank. He tries to whip in a cross but shoots it wide. Excellent from Laldinliana Renthlei who tracked the movement and hurried Khan.

A rare chance for NEUFC this time. The ball comes flying towards Imran Khan inside the box but he fires it over the frame of the goal. They need to get more clinical in the attacking third as the chances are coming very few.

Lots of attack coming from the left side for JFC. Ritwik Das gets the ball on the left flank. He sends a delivery towards the back post but there is no one at the end of it. It goes out for a goal kick eventually.

JFC continue to knock at the door. Harry Sawyer gets the ball inside the box on the left side. He shifts it to his right foot but fires a wayward shot across the goal. It goes out of play.

JFC win a corner kick on the left side. Wellington Cirino Priori swings it inside the box and the giant frame of Harry Sawyer jumps to unfurl his header. However, he ends up fouling Michael Jakobsen and the referee is there to spot it.

Daniel Chukwu is brought down just outside the box and JFC earn a free kick. Farukh Choudhary steps up to take the set piece but bangs it straight into the wall. The ball then deflects out. JFC do find a way again to set Boris Singh free inside the box but he tries to find Daniel Chukwu instead of going for the shot himself and the NEUFC defender intercepts to make the clearance.

He runs forward and then attempts a cross inside the box which gets headed out. Farukh Choudhary latches onto the loose ball, again attempts a long-range shot but drags it wide.

Both teams have been quite sedate in their approach so far. The game is played mainly in the midfield and we are still waiting for a real chance to build. NEUFC do try that but Jithin M.S is caught in an offside position. Slow start to the game but both teams have the potential to step up.

Looking for a change!
JFC topped the league stage in the Hero ISL 2021-22 but the catalyst to that sensational run was Greg Stewart who has now joined MCFC. JFC haven't been able to replace him this season and hence have lacked a bit of creativity. They have also had a change of coach which means that the playing style has also changed. Jamshedpur FC still have a lot of quality individuals and the likes of Chukwu, Boris and Pandita can turn the game on its head at any point in time. On the flip side, NEUFC made it to the playoffs in Hero ISL 2020-21 but everything has gone a bit downhill from there. They weren't at the top of their game in Hero ISL 2021-22 and three losses to start this season haven't helped their cause. They need to go all out and gun for all three points in order to kick-start their campaign otherwise they would fall a bit too much behind in the playoffs race. They have a few exciting homegrown individuals who need a bit of push and a few goals under their belt to show their worth. The two times these two sides faced each other in Hero ISL, 2021-22, JFC managed to edge out Hyderabad FC. Let's hope for a close game, and the recent history suggests that we can witness plenty of goals this evening.

It is now time for the final game of Matchweek 4 and it is a clash between Jamshedpur FC and NorthEast United FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur. The two sides currently are at the foot of the points table with JFC getting 1 point in the two games they have played and NEUFC are at the rock bottom with 3 losses out of 3. Something has got to give in this game and we have noticed in the Hero ISL time and again that when the pressure is high, it brings out the best in teams. Will either side be able to get its first win and get a bit of momentum going?
