City authority spokesman Michal Prymas said Thursday that plastic nets have been wrapped around statues in the four fountains in the Old Market because fans had been clambering up them to take pictures.
Prymas says "we care for the statues" and also "for the fans who risked falling down."
The oldest, a 17th century statue, shows a scene from Greek mythology of Proserpina being abducted by Pluto. The other three - of Mars, Apollo and Neptune - are contemporary.
