Explosive opener Virender Sehwag on Friday attributed India's recent success against Australia and England to the invaluable contributions made by pace bowlers Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan.
Sehwag, who was here to attend a function, felt effective balance between batting and bowling was the reason behind India's superb show against Australia and England.
"The team had jelled well under an equally effective captaincy from MS Dhoni," Sehwag said.
Sehwag said the team was confident of maintaining its current run of success on the tour of New Zealnd next year and eventually topping the ICC ranking.
On the cancellation of the Pakistan tour, he said the players followed the government's decision on the issue.
"This has also offered us a welcome break from gruelling cricket off late," he said.
Sehwag also rated the current downslide of Australia to their inability to find proper replacements for the two great bowlers of the game, Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne.
